But I just want to give OP a heads up the exhaust won't give you much differences on NA cars. Not just fast intensions but all aftermarket exhaust in general. It's better then misleading people here. I probably will get FI exhaust myself again but I could care less about the performence gain not untill I boost my car.
Sorry, didnt imply you was, just saying no one should. Unless they have taken all the steps. Didnt mean for it to come out that way..

I am getting a tune right after I get my FI exhaust and Test pipes installed. I will let you all know, but it wont be until Dec.

No worries buddy. Keep us posted on how the result turns out. But one thing for sure you will love how the FI exhaust sound like.

Before I got everything on my g35 coupe 2 years ago, I did whole lot of researches on the forums. People on the internet were singing of how awesome the F.I. exhaust sound like yet not to be too loud, how hard it pulls, how much hp gained... I was super excited to order mine. After I installed FI HFC and FI carbon fiber exhaust here is what I can say. It sounds really awesome no doubt. It's loud(not qieut like some people declared but I liked it). It looks great too especially the carbon fiber canister. Top notch quality hands down. As far as the performance gain from my butt dyno, it's definitely different from the stock. I lose low end but gain at high end. The annoying part is at 2-4k rpm when the exhaust starts to get really loud the car doesn't go faster. This was my only complaint. When I switched back to stock the car felt much faster and responding. But the FI exhaust kickes in after 5k rpm while the stock gets sluggish.

So if you ask me about the performence gain, I am not very impressed(as almost all aftermarket exhausts on NA cars). You might feel power lose at normal driving. F.I. declared 20 wheel hp gain and that might be true after a fine tune. But will it make day and night different? Don't get too excited. Think about this way, the Nismo declared 18 hp gain over the stock. But if you check the entire forum, how many people actually saying the Nismo outperform the stock. Bottom line is it's a sick exhaust but not really makes much differences on performence gain.
Forza,
THANK YOU... for the honesty. The more homework I do, the more it seems obvious that I can probably expect to break even or net a few horsepower at best. For the sound and weight loss, it may be worth it... but I want to have realistic expectations about the performance gains or lack thereof. While this has been alluded to in other threads, I'm not sure it's been stated as succinctly as this.

I didn't bother dyno testing mine but there was a noticible difference on the butt dyno. The sound alone is worth it, the power gain is just a plus. Those who lost power were because of multiple other nods in conjunction with the exhaust with out a tune. The more mods, the more a tune becomes important.
This is great information!! This, to me, is much more solid evidence that the FI CBE nets more than the Nismo exhaust. Right now, I'm just running Berk HFCs. My plan has been to add the FI CBE, Z1 post-MAF tubes + K&N drop in filters, then tune. I almost certainly won't mod beyond this.

Yep, that is about what I spent for my upgrades.

$500 still cold air intake
$500 FI test pipes
$1800 FI exhaust, carbon fiber mufflers
$5-600 UpRev tune..

I know these are not exact prices, but they are close.

Anyone think I will hit 400HP?

Nope. All the NA mods available won't get a Z to 400 imo.

Performance wise here is some info on the nismo exhaust.
two different nismo exhaust????? (nismo car ver and S-tune ver?)

The base Z is 332hp
The Nismo exhaust adds about 8hp alone. So the Nismo's Tune adds the other 10 to get to 350hp.

So saying the FI exhaust addes 20hp to a Z seems about right, 10hp (as apposed to 8hp) or so because it's slightly larger and less restrictive with the other 10hp coming form the Tune.

So you better really like that sound because your paying alot of money for 2hp and losing a lot on selling a used exhaust.

you are missing the test pipes dude.. that will make a huge difference, also the CAI... You are just talking about the CBE.. I know they dont all add, 20 each, but it will be a good gain.
I have a lot of friends who have said the Test Pipes will give the biggest gains.

Is this correct? Is the vehicle that FI dyno'd for their chart (showing a 20hp gain) tuned? I was under the assumption that it was simply bolted on and dyno'd.

Your math is a bit off. A stock (no tune) 370z will net 15-20hp to the wheels with a FI exhaust. This was not only proven by Fast Intentions but also by fellow Z members here when the exhaust first hit the market. So the difference between the NISMO exhaust and the FI exhaust is actually 7-12hp depending on car/dyno.

On either a regular 370z or NISMO 370z a change of the exhaust system does not warrant a tune. Getting a tune will yield next to no gains in the higher rpms. Maybe under the curve but not the total. The tune is only important when you start talking about CAI, CBE, HFC, etc in combinations.

Now 7-12hp for the 1600+ the exhaust costs is a bit expensive vs. gaining 15-20 for a regular 370z. But you are definitely getting more than 2hp gain. Plus the NISMO exhaust is just way too quiet.

But yes, the NISMO gains 7-8hp from the exhaust, the rest comes from the tune and part of that is a higher redline. Even a stock 332hp Z, if you raised the redline to equal that of the NISMO it would rate at a higher hp reading. Nissan cut the rpm to protect the engine but stock dyno graphs show the HP line still trending up typically past redline.

No, you are correct. The car is 100% stock and stock Z's gain 15-20hp from their exhaust. This has been confirmed from independent dynos back in the day

going from bone stock nismo to adding F.I. LTHs and CBE, I gained 30 whp and cut a significant amount of weight.
