Not worried about the engine?

Vince didn't seem too worried about it. His only suggestion was to not use the high boost setting for HPDE's and not beat on the car everyday with this setting. Basically, is is the fun setting, pulling on unsuspecting exotics

The low boost setting (~8 psi) is 473.76 HP / 431.12 torque. These numbers are from using the springs in the wastegates (no boost controller) and considered the flog it setting.

Having said all that, an engine build has always been something I have been preparing for. Any one adding nearly 200 HP (stock ~280 whp) to an unopened engine should keep in mind there is a greater potential for problems.

J/K Congrats bro! :p

:icon18: I was waiting for someone to say that. :p :bowrofl:

I'm waiting for Vince to email me a few things, one being the graph. I do have a picture of the printout. It just doesn't look as nice posting a picture of a piece if paper compared to a .jpg of a screen shot.

wheee! 04-19-2013 07:28 AM

Congrats! I would not blame you if you just kept driving west with that beast just to shake Sasha's hand.... lol

JARblue 04-19-2013 07:36 AM

Here you go, Jason

... but in all seriousness, you have done an amazing job with your Z, and those numbers are excellent. You should be extremely proud of all the work you have put in :tiphat: And it looks to be paying off in spades

I think it would be a blast to drive out to see you guys. I know the car would make it there.

Thanks Jar :tiphat: I am extremely happy with the results. It's gratifying to see all the hard work paying off. Now that this phase of the build is nearing the end, its time to enjoy :driving: and get a few ideas for phase two.

The boost is strong with this one...

GaleForce 04-19-2013 08:32 PM

I have not received the email with the Dyno jpg from RT/Tuning yet. I know they were really busy with another big build that was going out today, so I'm not surprised. I will post up a photo of the hardcopy if I don't have the digital copy by the time I get back home.

Sasha, you pay the fines and I'll be more than happy to test theory.

Good news, we're back in Canada. Staying the night with family, then a 2.5 hour drive home tomorrow will complete the trip. So far 1200 trouble free miles.

Vince@R/T 04-20-2013 08:48 PM

Hey Jason, sorry I didn't get the graph to ya yet, I literally just wrapped up that build. In other good news that 350z with the BP single made 600whp and 565 wtq at 15lbs this morn. Hope your drive home was good and the car felt good.

Mitco39 04-20-2013 08:49 PM

Was this done with the larger housing? Hoping to get mine on before she goes in for a tune.

No problem Vince. I knew you guys were busy with the other build. Great numbers on the 350z! Our drive home has been perfect so far. Thanks again for looking after us!

Gale, were your (awesome) numbers pulled from a 4th gear dyno, or a 5th gear dyno?

I know you're supposed to dyno in 5th gear to get the 1:1 ratio, but some tuners do the tuning in 4th and never give you a 5th gear run just for "power numbers".

I need to give R/T a call and set up an appt for a tune check up and an alignment/corner balancing.

Congrats again on the outstanding kit (BP), awesome install/review (you), and tuning job (R/T).

ENT-Z 04-21-2013 06:24 PM

Your lower boost setting results are pretty much dead on what I got at 9 psi without pulling all the way to redline. Nice to see the consistency with the kit! I don't have the balls to push the boost up as high as you did though. 9 psi is plenty freaky fast already!

Good question. I know the first run or two were 4th gear runs. Vince did mention running in 5th gear, but I can't remember when or if he did that. I assumed 5th gear runs.

They had a rough start of the day with a couple things at the shop and tuning ended up taking all day. By the end we were all exhausted. Vince and the guys still had a motor to reinstall for another customer coming from Canada the next day, they were starting that at 7pm. (Insane work ethic). Also to their credit, I arrived home to a message on my machine from Eric making sure we made it home ok and said if I had any questions don't hesitate to call them.

I'll give the guys at R/T a call next week and will confirm what gear was used.

Mr.Squeeze 04-21-2013 08:25 PM

When Vince tuned my car he tunes in 4 gear and final power numbers are 5 gear pulls.

Vince@R/T 04-22-2013 08:56 AM

Hey Jason, here is a JPEG of your dyno sheet.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8545/8...6d8eef27_b.jpg

To answer the gear question, I usually make the first few runs in 4th gear to make sure the baseline is close. After that the rest of the runs are done in 5th gear for the 1:1 ratio and the better resolution (longer sweep of the MAF voltage)

GaleForce 04-22-2013 02:39 PM

Thanks Vince.

I plan on it, I'll just have to coordinate the event to be on a Friday cause they're about 4 hours from me.

(Not as far as they are from you, I know. But I can't afford to make a weekend trip out of it. :icon17: Plus my car doesn't eat up the mileage quite as fast as yours... :bowrofl: )

Marcusz 04-22-2013 04:12 PM

Hey gale are they also good to tune a stillen supercharger ???
