Got a busy modding weekend ahead of me. This Saturday Rob is going to help me install some Carbotech XP8 brake pads, Motul RBF600 brake fluid, paint my brake calipers red, and change my oil.
For painting the brakes I'm using VHT caliper paint which should stand up to temps of 900 degrees. Need to clean the calipers diet with the caliper cleaner, then sand them down, clean them again with mineral spirits, and then finally paint. Also bought some painter's tape and a plastic drop cloth to help mask off the car. The total cost for this mod including the prep supplies is $35. Very cost effective and hopefully it turns out good. Here's a pic of everything needed to paint the calipers ![]() And here's everything ready for this Saturday. I thought i should change the oil while the calipers are drying to save some time. ![]() |

After a long azz day at Bobo's garage yesterday (13 hrs working on my car) we have the brakes mostly done. Ran into a little issue after we finished up and it looks like we didn't bleed one of the calipers properly so we will take care of that later tonight. We did get the XP8's on with the Motul fluid and we got the calipers painted (which took up most of the 13 hrs). Here are some pics:

I'll take better pics later and post them up. ![]() ![]() |

May I make a suggestion. Cut the white piece of the tinted tail light. It'll give it a better look and you will be able to see the white light when backing up better. I do have a question. When lowering did you do simply springs, and if so do the tires wear on the inside/outside in even?

For lowering, I just did the Swift springs. Haven't really checked the tire wear in a while, but that should depend on the camber settings for your alignment. With negative camber, I think the inside of the tires should wear faster than the outside, but how much different they are depends how far out your camber is. Some one please correct me if I'm wrong about this. |

Just a heads up Craig, you'll need 2 cans each of the paint and the brake cleaner. Have fun ![]() The red brakes really stand out from far away, especially with the dark colored wheels. |
