also, any suggestions on earplugs? I have earmuffs but they get in the way when using a rifle.

I like North Sonic Ear Valves for general use and put on some muffs when shooting louder guns.

Any thing in this class of ear protection is usually fine for most people, but as with anything price is the limit. There are custom molded plugs that cost but feel awesome if you are going to wear for long periods.
