Here's my daily, but am looking for something a bit smaller to carry. Perhaps a .380.

I'm a left has well. It does seem to make sense that u will get faster follow up shots but if ur not bench shooting then it would be slower with follow up shots.
It would be cool if they can make a ambi bolt gun. Be able to switch the bolt on either side.

I bought a Shooting Chrony Alpha (not an vendor endorsement, just the first page I found) recently. Have only used it with air guns, so far, but it seems to be a good unit for the price. It can be picky about the lighting when used indoors* but very reliable outdoors. The Alpha model has limited (32 shots), non-permanent storage of data plus gives high, low, mean, and standard deviation. Some of the other models have remotes, and expanded, permanent memory. Very easy to setup and use. The diffusers seem a little flimsy where they "splice" together but not that bad and I don't need them with my current setup. So far, I'm very pleased with the unit.

*I tried some incandescent, gooseneck lamps and that worked well but was cumbersome to setup/takedown. Now using a 500W quartz tungsten lamp on a stand. Lamp is pointed at the ceiling. Will be trying lower wattage bulbs.

Last time I used a chrono, it got shot. I'll never use a chrono without a remote again. This is the one I'm looking at now. Top of the line. :D

LOL I barely nicked mine with a BB. Knocked a tiny sliver of plastic from the rear sensor but no real damage.

Wow! Nice setup. I don't reload, so it's little more than a toy for me. I sure don't need one that costs 6x as much. :)

ImportConvert 01-14-2015 02:41 PM

New toy arrived a while back.

Had a great time training with Frank Proctor, helped my pistol handling out quite a bit!

The last one I shot up was with a 300 Kong loaded with a 220gr HPBT at 3400ft/sec. :D

Sup roof!

In stock ammo, guns, magazines, and reloading supplies <--- it will compare prices of ammo from a ton of different sites

Try not to get reloads (at least I don't run them. Especially in my Kimber). I usually go for winchester white box or federal.

For practice, I use FMJs. Cheap and readily available. I buy most of my practice ammo from FireQuest, but that's mainly because they are located where I live and I don't have to pay shipping. Some of the gun/pawn shops around here carry 250-1000 round cases and will order bigger quantities.

Been thinking on buying one of those rifles. Top it off with either a US Optics or a Schmidt & Bender scope.

Plus the shipping is already added to the total.

the gun I got from Cabelas and was $1,530 or something around that took it home the same day....they said that the reason we can take long range rifles home like this, is because its a different policy than handguns and smaller firearms like AK-47's exc.... I think (personally) it kicks less than my Remington 700 7mm Mag.

The Scope is a Vortex scope MOA mil-dot ....6x30x50

the scope is retailed for around $1,100 , I got it with the military discount so I got the scope a little cheaper, but that is the price regularly for it ... so all in all.......... 1500 + 1,100 =$2,600 or so in total. vs 8-10k for the barrett without a scope... that's one HELL of a bargain.

and if you think about it ....... $1,500 Lapua Magnum vs $9,000-10k Barrett and the Lapua shoots as far and is as accurate , but for 7.5k less, that's a bargain worth investing .

and the ammo, though still expensive ...not as expensive as the Barrett. I think with the Barrett it costs you around $20 a shot ..... the Lapua is $10 a shot.... I have a buddy that reloads his own shells ( has the same gun as I do, but its the 110 BA version instead of the 110 FCP ) and its cheaper to do it that way instead of buying new ones regularly , plus you know exactly what your shooting everytime versus say.... new bullets.

The USO scope is 30mm dia, and the S&B scope is 34mm dia. You need that big of diameter to shot long range. Each of these scopes have alot of vert adjustable of the crosshair. Have your zero set 100m. Then adjust the crosshairs out to 2000m+. There is enough room for movement for the crosshair. Also, USO makes it's own lens here in the US. ALL of the other scope makers buy their lens from Asia. S&B is German, and they make their own lens too.

I had put together a 300 Kong. Never did like shooting that rifle. That rifle was more about recoil management instead of trigger control. :shakes head: So I sold it for what I had in it. That last about year and a half ago. Figure I was done with rifles like that. Wrong, I got the bug again. Been researching the 338LM lately. Looking for one that I don't have to put much it to it. The Savage got my interest. Also looking at a few others. Remington with the aluminium chassis for one. But most of them are over 3 grand. So I'm still deciding. I reload, so the price don't bother me. But getting powder is another issue. I'm been on backorder for 8 months for 8lbs of TAC and ARComp for my AR's. :(

the Savage 110 FCP ( with the scope I have) is all in under 3k and as my brother told me yesterday through text message ( he has it on the military range) and said " the thing shoot fire!"

the only thing I would say about it is that if you get the 110 BA .... the thing weighs 18 pounds! its a tank of a gun in weight . a brute.

one of the big reasons I went with the FCP :).......WITH the H&S Precision stock!........ ALOT lighter.......... go to a place that has both the 110 BA and the 110 FCP with the H&S precision stock, both are Magnum ..... feel the difference!

keep in mind when choosing optics for a firearm like the 338..... the optic has to be approved to be on a firearm like that, due to the amount of pressure and force after each shot. a regular scope on a 338, the scope would be knocked off center after every shot. because regular scopes cant handle the pressure.

so when choosing an optic for the 338 or any big firearm....make sure its APPROVED to handle the amount of pressure and force from the big firearm.

You want to kill a scope. The FN FAL in 308 will because of the heavy bolt going forward and slamming closed. It will pop the front lens out. LOL

I know what you mean. Want a new rifle. But the house needs a new furnace. My PowerWagon needs headers. My Nismo needs the rear SPL parts. I need to hit the lottery.
