Still pretty basic; added flashlight and forward grip. I only had time to put 100rds through it before returning to Iraq. I think I'll sell it when my RRA arrives. Also picked up CarrierComp's "DG" PARKERIZED Tone Titanium (7rd) mag tube and SideArmor's Quick Detach Standard Short Rail with 6rd Shell Holder.

Might add an EoTech as well.

Lmk if you sell that ambush. It is an 18" barrel, right?

It's been a while

I haven't been on this forum since I ticked off some people by criticizing the new pathfinder. This should be a better thread for me. Anyway. I've had an Armalite AR10 for a while. I lilked owning it but not shooting it. Too long and it hurts my shoulder to shoot (I've had two elbow and one shoulder surgery and pieces are gone). So I sold it last February to one of my brothers and ordered a Springfield M1A Scout Squad...last February. By November the AR was long gone and no M1A in sight. My FFL calls and asks if I'd be interested in a
SIG 716. I had already paid $1600 for the Springfield and told him no way I could afford a SIG and what was a 716 anyway? He tells me the SIG is $50 bucks more than the SIG and tells me to go on line and look at the 716. I placed my order right away and it took 2 days to get. I absolutely love it. Now things are so bad, it would be hard to find either of these rifles. It is crazy out there.

UNKNOWN_370 03-22-2013 09:50 AM

We're in the clear with the rifles. I figured, rifle-wise, we'd be ok. Now comes the mag issue. That one has me a little more worried. Mag cap limits??? Thats why i been buying wholesale mags when they allow for normal pricing. I'm on every waiting list there is for 7.62x39, 6.8 and 5.56 mags. I also need beretta92fs CZ-75 and parausa hi cap mags. It's a bytch because pistol mags are harder to find and more expensive than rifle mags.

The new Pathfinder is massively lame. It is crazy out there. On Rainier Arms site I put my email address in for a notifier when a Noveske Chainsaw lower was available. I recieved the email at 3PM and when I went to order it at 3:15 they were all gone :(

Fortunately I received my 5 PMAGs from Magpul the other day :)

How stupid and illogical does one have to be to think that limiting the capacity of magazines will save one single life? Governer Hickenlooper of Colorado is a grade A hypocrite and moron...

Inspector71 03-25-2013 07:55 AM

BlackZeda

Thanks. I got blasted big time for critiquing the Pathfinder. All three major car mags trashed it and one called it a Mall-finder. Mags are so hard to come by. Friends tell me Magpul is moving from Colorado. The only way to get the attention of politicians is to punish them financially it seems.

what prompts your desire to get a .40?

I'm feeling it's reputation for accuracy. I'm contemplating between the standard and heavy barrel model. The difference is 1lb. But i figured the heavy barrel can take continuous use. But I know FN standard barrels must be pretty close to the heavy. They just make awesome barrels... period.

What I like about this rifle is, that it's accurate enough for general hunting/sniping. but then switch from a 5 round mag to a 20 round mag and you have a long range battle rifle. Very versatile, yet in the standard model, 8.9lbs is still lighter than most comparable rifles in this caliber which usually weigh 10/11lbs.

A few reasons, I do not have one, I have three 45's, recently sold my 9mm, as it does nothing for me. I eventually will have another in the collection, but it was not the right gun in the collection, that is why I sold it. Two of my friends have 40's and reloading dies for it. I shot a few, its a snappy round, but I like like it. Even during this ammo crisis, Walmart still has 40 ammo on the shelves, its not that popular yet.

Thats when you need to get out there and shoot. When it's cold, snowing and raining, your hands shivering, or under extreme heat and you're hungry, tired and weak. If you can hit targets then? You can hit targets always.

I've been looking for a quick-change rifle scope mount so I can quickly and easily swap scopes around on my rifles (.22LR and .223/5.56). So far, all I've found is an ARMS #19 setup. It looks like a decent unit, but I'd like to compare a few different ones. Anyone know of other quick-change mounts? TIA

Depends on what type of scope you're using. But for traditional scopes I like...

I'd call what I'm using "traditional" - see pics - but I don't know a lot about scope terminology. The biggest (physically) scope I have at this time is a 6-24x44 that is about 17" long (requires rings/mounts that are on the high side). I would like any quick-change mount I get to be able to handle up to 50mm objectives.

Any suggestions for reticles? I target shoot the .22LRs at 25, 50, and, occasionally, 100 yds and the .223/5.56 at 50, 100 (and 200 yds when I feel like doing a lot of walking). I'm mainly after elevation adjustment; ranging is a distant second. I currently have two scopes with mil-dot and two with 30/30 reticles. I'm not a big fan of the 30/30 (especially with the .22s at longer ranges) and I'm still having problems doing the mil-dot ranging calcs in my head :p.

It's kinda hard for me to make a single recommendation based on your criteria. But I can say is, if Midway doesn't have it? You probably can't get it?

I went to Cabela's yesterday and decided to browse the gun section (because racecar). There are a ton of hunting rifles but hardly anything tactical. So I finally saw a .22 tactical LR and thought maybe I could do that with my Remington 597. Yes, I'm bored. Did some research last night and found one place that sells the kit for just over $100. I'm tempted.

Thanks for the lead. I see that American Defense Recon makes a quick-release mount that looks like it's at least very similar to what I'm looking for. And they have several rings with screw levers, a la Weaver Lever Lok.

I was hoping that quick-change mounts would be more common than they are. I guess I'll just have to keep looking. Thanks for the help. I now have two options instead of just one.

I have been putting a lot of rounds through my H&K pistols recently and am starting to buy into the "In a world of compromise, some don't" motto. I love the Glock 19, but the P2000 9mm is so much more refined.

It's very highly rated, it's just not available. Initially low volume importation, then the Obama-driven gun panic, then the switch away from S&W importation to Walther, then new version introduction PPQ M2)...it's been tough to get enough of them out there. For me, it's been not only the best polymer pistol I've owned, it's been the best all around pistol of any kind.

Talk about ammo shortages . . .

So this really cute blond 20 something is filling up her gas tank when an old coot drives up in his rusty pick-up with lots of ammo boxes stacked up in the back seat. Upon seeing that she looks over to the old timer and says how about we trade some whoopie time for some ammo?

To which he relies . . .

What type of ammo ya' got?
