The general idea with bump-firing a regular AR-15 is you want to leave a small gap between the stock and your shoulder, mostly support the weight with your left hand on the handguard (or forward vertical grip), keep your trigger finger at fixed location in space, and let the recoil of each shot bounce the rifle off of your shoulder and back into your trigger finger. Some people find it easier to start out this way: Start with the butt against your shoulder and your finger on or just in front of the trigger, and then use your left hand (on the handguard / front grip) to pull the rifle forward into the trigger and away from your shoulder to fire the first round (at which point the same cycle happens as above). |
Yeah but with this stock it makes bump firing so much more easier especially with a 100 round drum

100-round mag dumps. Looks like a great way to ruin a good barrel much faster. Each to their own....I think I'll stick with semi auto. |

But when it comes down to it, full auto isn't all that useful in any scenario I'm ever likely to encounter. Generally it's only tactically practical for laying down suppressive fire, and I just don't see myself ever needing to cover someone with suppressive full auto fire in any defensive situation I'm likely to run into, even if the zombies do come. If they were cheap, I'd buy full autos for range toys (and still not use them for defensive rifles). But at post-1986 prices, forget it, I'll stick with semis at the range too. |
I like my Kimbers ultra carry...

i will be trading my LWRC or Going Consignment to the dealer i bought it from. They are ordering the new 223/556 8" SBR/Supressor. This was my original choice but didnt want to wait 3-6 months. Well now my wife is right, and she told to wait for what i really wanted. Honestly i should have kept my cash from the kimbers and LWRC and add $1500 i would have bought the FULL-Auto SBR 10" Colt from the gunshop i bought all these guns from. Its just so hard to find those full auto reasonably price.

This is the main caveat with Colt: I'm not up on the latest, but there have been issues about compatibility between semi-auto Colts and parts from other mfgs. Basically, normal full-auto M-4s and M16-s, and just about every aftermarket AR-15, all use the same interchangeable parts and specs. Colt changed some pin sizes on their semi-autos for the non-military market in an effort to make them incompatible with full-auto parts. At one point in the past, what they did was make the front takedown pin (the front of the two large pins you pull to separate upper + lower receivers) larger (to prevent mix&match between full/semi Colt uppers and lowers). Then they also at some later point made the fire control group pin larger as well, so that you can't drop a select-fire trigger group and/or DIAS into them easily. I *think* with current new production, they now use normal-sized takedown pins, but still oversized FCG pins. Aside from making full auto parts a pain (e.g. if you bought a Registered DIAS or Lightning Link or similar kit that worked for select-fire), these changes also can cause problems if you try to mix colt + non-colt semi-auto parts (upper<->lower received mating in the case of the takedown pin, lower receiver internals in the case of the FCG pin). If you plan to leave it all-Colt and all-semi, it should be a non-issue. |

Just a Remington 870 Express Tactical. If they have the folding grip + pistol grip stocks I'll get one of those too and have them put it on at the store.
Edit: I meant telescoping stock with pistol grip. Need another cup of coffee. |
I might actually buy two. One for my house and another for the gf's apartment.

Yeah I am not planning on using birdshot for a defensive load. :icon17:

don't use bird shot, because it's just going to piss the person trying to kill you off. and he will be more brutal when he cuts out your kidneys to sell on the black market  |
.223/5.56 NATO out of a "Black Rifle" will generally penetrate typical home interior walls less than most handgun and shotgun ammo. Many people tout the 5.56 NATO round as a better home defensive round for that reason.

I'm about to buy an arsenal ak sgl21-61 probably within a week. :happydance:

Just picked up my 870 yesterday, along with a variety of shells to go with it. Need to get out and shoot it sometime in the near future. I'm ordering some accessories for it... collapsible & folding stock, fore-end with rails, surefire mount, shotshell holder, etc. :)

.500 Smith & Wesson
My scary S&W .500 moment on Fathers' Day:
and if you don't know what a .500 is..... http://files.stripersonline.com/ubb5...l_compare2.jpg Except we were shooting 700 grain loads. (there are 7000 grains in a pound... so 10 of these bullets (bullet, not the shell, powder, primer) is a pound!) The 700 grain looks like a shotgun slug. Huuuge. |
