how do you like the XDm?

Joepro 02-07-2013 09:56 PM

fantastic gun, its the 5.25 comp, I am by no means a good shot, but with that gun, I am better. Just got the 1911 recently, hasn't even been run yet:shakes head:

ImportConvert 02-14-2013 06:46 AM

Update: Loving the Kyle Defoor sights on my G19, and the MGW sight-pusher is a must-have if you install sights on Glocks. I love it. Free to my friends, $5-10 if I don't know you. I'm going to re-coup the cost and a lot of people will get a great deal.

Here is how they look, photo taken from normal distance of eyes-to-sights:
http://i50.tinypic.com/2v99jps.jpg

Very rapid to pick up with the gap between the FS and the notch, and very precise when needed. I love them.

I've been lusting after one and hesitant to pull the trigger. I sold my XD service and still have an XD subcompact--torn as to whether to go larger with a 5.25 XDm or smaller with the XDs....decisions decisions.

I won't presume to speak for him, but I sold my Springfield 1911 for a cheaper RIA that I am much happier with.

I had a SA Range Officer. Awesome freaking gun. Very accurate. For the price ($700ish new) you couldn't do better for a range gun imo.

I agree when that qualifier is tacked on.

The SA RO kills anything in it's price range for accuracy, not to mention the sights are 9000x better than the RIA (which is not saying much)

My only beef with the gun is it didn't always make a noise when I told it to. This obviously isn't a problem for range use, but unacceptable for me. I generally stay away from Springfield for 1911s, as I don't trust their modified design, which says something because I'm a huge SA fanboy.

Just stumbled on an in-stock DDM4V7 lightweight at pre-craziness prices.

Paid for it, and needing to change my state of residence before I can pick it up.

Colorado Capitol Watch

Technically they comply already, but they have stated that they are indeed going to move if the bill passes. Already back-ordered, a move would throw PMAG price/availability issues into the stratosphere.

The GI is very different than the stainless I have, but these are my brief thoughts as typed from my phone.

For me, the Springfield was very picky and the action is comparatively fragile. My idea of a 1911 requires a bit more durability, and if I want something to look pretty i will get a kimber.

I've not had a single FTF with the RIA SS, even after it spent 4 weeks in my pants. Comparatively, the SA would get finicky after 2-3 days of carry.

I shots marginally better with the SA, I think tied mostly to the improved sights, but the guns both shot well in my mind. If the SA was less finicky I'd still have it--it's a great gun and well priced for what it offers. It just didn't have the reliability I wanted.

Democrats in Colorado are pretty confident that this bill will pass.

MAGPUL INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES IT WILL LEAVE COLORADO IF GUN BILL PASSES

MOVE WOULD COST STATE 600 JOBS, $85 MILLION

Denver, Colorado – February 15th, 2013 – Magpul Industries, an Erie, Colorado, based manufacturer of firearms accessories, announced today that it will be forced to leave the state if House Bill 1224, which would ban standard capacity magazines, becomes law. The announcement was made to Governor Hickenlooper, state legislators, members of the media, and in a full-page advertisement to appear in the Denver Post on Sunday.

Richard Fitzpatrick, Founder, President, and CEO of Magpul Industries, said that regardless of any amendments that may be worked into the bill, he will no longer be able to continue to do business in Colorado if his core product is made illegal.

“Our company could not, in good conscience, continue to manufacture our products in a state where law-abiding citizens are prohibited from purchasing and owning them. ” Fitzpatrick said. “The passage of this bill will do nothing to enhance public safety, but will force us to immediately begin taking our business to another state.”

A proponent of the bill argued that with the amendment language, the choice to stay or leave was up to Magpul. Fitzpatrick responded, “Our relationship with our customers across the country would be severely damaged if this bill passes and we stay. We’ve already heard word of potential boycotts if that happens. They (legislators) really need to understand that our customer base is as passionate about freedoms as we are, and staying here if this bill passes would cripple the company. Make no doubt about it…we have no choice, and would be forced to leave in order to save the business.”

Magpul cited the example of the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show, which was canceled earlier this year after the organizers announced that it would not permit a popular category of firearm, like the ones Magpul makes accessories for, in the show. Public outcry from the customer base forced exhibitors to withdraw from participation, causing the cancellation of the show, and an estimated loss of $70 million of show revenue for hotels, restaurants, merchants, and other businesses in Pennsylvania, where the show was to be held.

Magpul Industries directly employs 200 people, supports another 400 supply-chain jobs, and contributes over $85 million annually to Colorado’s economy. Doug Smith, Chief Operating Officer for Magpul, says that it is a difficult position to be in. “We could choose to stay in a state that wants our jobs and revenue, but not our products, and lose half the jobs we are fighting to save, or potentially the entire business, when our customers stop buying. Or, we can take the company and those 600 jobs out of Colorado to continue our growth and the growth of American manufacturing in a state that shares our values. This is not really a choice. It’s an unfortunate and inevitable result of the actions of the Legislature if this bill passes.”

Magpul was started over a decade ago by Fitzpatrick, a former U.S. Marine. It has become one of Colorado’s fastest growing businesses, successfully marketing its products to American and allied military forces, police departments, sporting goods stores, and thousands of responsible private citizens. Fitzpatrick says that the rich western culture and strong values of individual freedom and responsibility, traditionally found in Colorado, were one of the reasons the company chose to remain in the state.

“It is heartbreaking to me, my employees, and their families, to think that we will be forced to leave,” Fitzpatrick said. “But if HB13-1224 passes, we will simply have no choice.”

They will leave if it becomes law.

From what I've heard, they're prepping to make offers in Wyoming and Montana, since there's a 99% chance the bill will pass the senate.

We've started recall paperwork for the most vulnerable reps and senators, but it's probably too late at this point.

I find it sad and hilarious that this is the governor's Facebook status:

There is no greater priority than getting people back to work and making America a magnet for jobs. That will happen only if Congress joins the President in putting aside partisan politics and working together. The President laid out a strong and positive message designed to cut through the gridlock and bickering. He talked about manufacturing, innovation, clean energy and investing in people. These are investments we can all endorse.

That is sad to hear. I thought there was only like a 50 50 chance of it passing through yall's senate. That is really weird though. I never remember CO leaning that far left. Granted, my father left colorado back in 2002 and I only went back to ski and for army training after that. I thought they were more libertarian. Sad. Beautiful state. But they won't be gettin any of my tourism money if they pass this.
