I've thought about selling some, but i just figured keeping them would be better. I was giving some out as gift and even donated like three boxes to a charity raffle for a local gun club.

I might be willing to trade for shado nudes tho....:icon17:

Bought another AK-47. I couldn't help myself, I bet import of this stuff becomes a PITA soon enough, and wanted a back-up. Also, I'm OCD. I can train with one, ding it up, etc, and look at and pet the other :P

I love my AK. Not precision rifles, but don't let the hype fool you. THEY ARE combat accurate. In other words. It's not hard at all to hit a Torso sized target out to 300 yds with some practice. More than enough range for defense/offense and every other kind of fence...

The AR, i would call precision because with the right ammo and barrel twist.(18"barrel) You can make guaranteed head shots from that same range. But hey, Combat doesn't require 300yd headshots. Thats a whole other game.

I love my Noveske M4's, but I have shot enough stuff to know that 7.62x39 tears "stuff" up, does way better on automobiles, and is much better at punching cover---at least when using cheap FMJ.

Anyway, I feel that while my Noveske rifles are VERY reliable (because I run them hard and they work just fine, clean, dirty, whatever), I think that while the envelope I run them in, they are okay with, the AK-47 would allow me to expand that envelope further. Not that I would, but then, using a firearm in self-defense is not about clear-cut, neat and tidy envelopes of performance. I might very well trip and fall into a puddle of muck and then need my firearm to drop a vicious dog or something on my property. Who knows? AK covers more of that.

I am expecting 1-3MOA out of these rifles. They are Bulgarian milled receiver guns, made in Bulgaria, except for a few trigger-group components, and the furniture, at Arsenal of Bulgaria, and they make good AK's. These are not the US finished receivers, they were made and milled in Bulgaria. If I get better than 3 MOA, I will be happy.

I also bought 2 US PALM Battlegrips for them, and Jim Fuller sights. I am waiting for the AK Battlecomp to be in stock, or for more reviews on the Manticore Nightbrake.

Yeah, you need to own both... AK and AR, both do the job well. I would really like an AK-74M. 5.45 is just a ridiculous good and accurate round.

Side Note. I just paid $35 for (2) 6.8 mags brand new. It feels good paying normal prices in this market.

I feel like a 5.45 AK would be too much overlap with my M4 platforms. Worse round, imo.

If you're into corrosive, sure. I don't mind the cost so much when it's $1-200 per thousand. Especially when it means non-corrosive ammunition to boot.

From Magpul:
Quote:

We are proud to announce that within a matter of days we will be going live with a new program. Due to a bill currently moving through the Colorado legislature, there is the possibility that Colorado residents' ability to purchase standard capacity magazines will soon be infringed. Before that happens, and Magpul is forced to leave the state in order to keep to our principles, we will be doing our best to get standard capacity PMAGs into the hands of any Colorado resident that wants them.

Verified Colorado residents will be able to purchase up to ten (10) standard capacity AR/M4 magazines directly from Magpul, and will be given immediate flat-rate $5 shipping, bypassing our current order queue.

Our customers outside of Colorado, please know that our PMAG production will continue at an ever-increasing rate until we do relocate, shipments to our distributors in other states will continue, and that we do not expect relocation to significantly impact PMAG production. We are also aware that Colorado is not the only state with existing or pending magazine capacity restrictions; we are working on programs for other affected states as well.

Full details and instructions will be announced when we are able to go live; please watch here for the coming announcement.

Ballistic tests show a slightly different story, but not by a huge margin. Both are equally respected. The modularity of the M4 though will suffice the mild deficit. I wouldn't own one to replace an M4. Just for historical value and cheap ammo fun .

Red__Zed 02-27-2013 05:36 PM

finally got in on some 5.56. 1050 rounds inbound, mix of 855 surplus and black hills match ammo.

TLR-1 ordered, still waffling on optic. Probably going to wind up with an Aimpoint but can't help but wonder if I should go Eo or get a 1-4X...

Jumping on the Magpul fast track to snag qty 20 20 round mags and get my lightweight KISS build done...then I'll need to build a gun for myself....

Red__Zed 02-27-2013 06:05 PM

OK, the aimpoint pro came in stock at $380 so I jumped on it.

Somebody please take my credit card away. Between furniture and guns I'm about to go broke.

I have yet to see an equivalent to the 5.56 Brown Tip SOCOM round in 5.45 caliber.

The nut-n-fancy project on you tube has an excellent video thread on different optics and philosophy of use. Check it out.

You know you are truly a shooting enthusiast when you can sit through a whole nut-n-fancy video and then watch another:icon17:

I hope hickenlooper does the right thing. My brother and I would much rather move to CO than TX next year.

You're pulling out EXPENSIVE specialized ammo. I'm talking about the equiv ammo. i'm sure if our ammo makers took the time to invest in russian ammo. we can most definitely exceed your example. Some private reloaders do some amazing things with AK rounds. AR have more options sure, but basic 5.45 ammo can perform better in some cases than SOME of the specialized AR ammo. @ $10 a box. I can definitely put faith in 5.45 basic ammo considering the huge wound channnel that thin round leaves.

lol. It can be a little tedious to watch his videos but he really thinks things through before he puts out a vid. He's 95% accurate and he gets on a lot of guns. i sit through a lot of those types of reviewers just to get aggreeing and opposing perspectives and re-evaluate my thoughts as solid or weak.

We know so many people in CO too. My half-brother's step sister lives there and I have cousins. But there is no sunset clause in these bills. meaning it would require active legislation to overturn them, rather than letting them expire. :(

Also, on topic, Crimson Trace laser grips still for sale yall.

Hickok is hysterical. I love watchin em and his little amusement park of shooting lol. He busts off some nice stuff. But hickok loves everything he shoots. For him not to like a gun it has to be horrible

I enjoy many of those channels. But i really like gunblast.com channel.

You can tell if hickok doesn't like something because slightly under his breath he will say "hmm. how bout that" i mean how obvious do you have to be :roflpuke2:

He does like almost everything. But the key to finding out what he likes most is if he has the gun in multiple videos. like you know he loves his single action army and scar 17 and glocks.
