I love guns... When I lived in NorCal we used to go up to Cow Mountain in Ukiah to shoot... since I've lived here in LA, I haven't even taken my guns out once...
|
so damn hooked! LOL
|
just ordered a Mossberg 930 Jerry Miculek Edition
|
I shot a Mossberg last time I went Skeet shooting I have to say I was very impressed not as much kick as say a S & W.
|
I still want a Kel-Tec PF9 in tan. Don't know why because it's cheap and may or may not work.

Seems like the recent runs are pretty good, though still a little finicky with some ammo. For only $250 it's something I'd like to get just to toy around with and see if it works. I do like the idea. The only other gun of similar size is the Kahr CM9. More reliable with better build quality, but still won't feed everything. I want to like the PPS, but it's a little too long and a little too tall. Though maybe I'll just get a PPK! |
You can get a base Mossberg for $180.
|
Checked out the PF9 again. I like the size, I like the price.
But it's cheap as hell and the trigger is gritty, no feel, no consistency in the "break." Next. Kahr CM9... yes please. Love the size, love the look, love the build quality. Very tight when new. I'm sure it'll loosen some (that's what she said). The trigger also feels great. Super smooth with a nice clean break. http://whichgun.com/img/firearms/pistols/kahr/cm9/3.jpg It's significantly shorter and slimmer than my Glock 26, which means it'll be ideal for hot summer carry. Going to a local shop that's open today to inquire about ordering/price. It's $399 from Buds but if I can get it locally I'll avoid the FFL transfer fee and support a local shop... which is very important in NOVA as they are few and far between! |

Size comparison between the G26 and CM9
http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1341751211 The PM9 and CM9 have the same dimensions. CM9 is cheaper than the PM9 because it has fewer machine operations on the slide, simple engraving, MIM slide-release, and comes with one mag. The rifling in the barrel is conventional, not polygonal like the PM9. Which should mean nothing since it's not a long-distance shooter. I already know after the CM9 I've got a G19 or G17 on my list. And there was an FN SCAR at the shop yesterday... zomg I want :yum: |

I do like the PPS, but it just doesn't feel "right" to me, if you know what I mean. The Kahr feels really good and it's got enough positive feedback (and limited negative feedback) for me to give it a try and evaluate reliability.
Both the PPS and CM9/PM9 are the same width at .90". |

As great as it is, I might be selling the CM9 soon, just picked up a S&W Shield (to complement the M&P9c that I already have). BTW, Kahr isn't joking about the 200 to 300 round break-in period. By that I mean during the first few hundred rounds it didn't want to lock the slide back on the final round of the magazine. It's been flawless since. |
As long as I can get one under $400 locally its a good deal when you factor in the FFL transfer. We will see what I can do today. If its not good I'll just order and ship to whatever the cheapest ffl is around.

Buying the cm9 now!

I wish I could have found the CM9 locally for under $400. The only two places that I found it wanted $475 + tax. I like to support local gun shops but sometimes they make it difficult to do so.
It is nice to have gun shows every month though. |
So I brought the cm9 home. Love the feel. Its basically a single stack g26. A lot shorter and a lot thinner but the height is about the same. Nice quality feel... trigger is lovely.
Gonna do the pre-range break in that I've been reading about on the kahr boards. Basically rack the slide a million times. If I've got time I'll put a few hundred rounds down range this week. Tranceformer, the gun shop I went to advertised it at full retail but price-matched grab-a-gun's price plus their FFL fee so I did pretty well. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |
Oh, my fiancee already wants to take it from me!

I love my G19 just had to get use to the muzzle flip. I'll probably get a G40 or a XD next year.

I have wanted to buy a 1911 for a long time now and have been considering a Wilson Combat or something similiar, but the more I thought about it spending $3000+ for a handgun may be silly since I don't know if I will like shooting it a lot. S&W has always been a brand that I have had a lot of respect for, but I have never been compelled to buy one, but after doing a lot of research on 1911s they moved to the top of my list. Unfortunately after calling around town for a few weeks it seems that S&W 1911s don't stay on the shelves very long, and the ones with the light rail seem to be even more desirable.
So the other day I went to the gun shop/range to shoot a few rounds and there it is...the exact model I have been wanting to check out. I was really struck by the beauty and the quality of it and since they were offering a 15% discount for range members I decided to buy it on the spot. I have put only 50 rounds through it, but it operated perfectly and it is definitely a pleasure to shoot. I really like the fish-scale slide grips, the external ejector, the wood grips and the Trijicon tritium night sights. The finish is by far and away the best I have seen on a 1911 IMO. On a technical note, I have read/seen reviews that indicate that the ejector retaining pin will move down after many rounds fired and eventually impede the operation of the slide. I was planning on applying some loctite but was pleased to discover that they remedied the issue by using a roll-pin. So far I like it a lot and I am glad I didn't wait to buy a 1911! http://www.the370z.com/members/black...1ta-45-acp.jpg |
Hard to beat a good 1911!
|
Love the 1911 a buddy of mine just spent 3200 on a Kimber. If you have the cash cool but this mexskin doesn't!
|
Magazines are such a gimmick. $27 for each 6rd mag. Just ordered four of them.

Took the CM9 to the range last night. Put around 150 rounds through it. No FTF or FTE. Slide did not lock back after a couple early empty mags, but that's common during the break-in apparently.
Shoots really well. I like the trigger a lot. Very smooth. Going back on Friday to finish the break-in. Probably at least 200 rds of FMJ and then a box of 50 124gr Gold Dots. It's definitely loosened up some after just 150. |
