Love shooting slugs. It's like releasing the hounds of Hell on a target.

I was going to work, and I thought, "I should have told Frost, to talk to you about the slugs"!

Anyone here have any experience with American Classic 1911s? I'm thinking about their Commander series but not sure about the reliability for these guns.

Cheap ammo is not a good thing.

They have PMC and federal brass casings .223 500 rounds for $150. I put almost 1000 rounds of PMC through my AR without any malfunctions.

I don't think I've shared this yet, but here's my current Colt 70 Series Combat Commander 9mm. My dad bought it new from the MCX back in 1980. :)

This weekend I might pick up a Kahr CW9.

Also eyeing the Ruger LCP / Kel-Tec P3AT for deep concealement.

What kind of holster will you mate with it?

Take care of that, it will increase in value, in time!

Well, I bought a Galco clip-on IWB kydex holster for it at the gun shop that works OK, but I have some issues with it pulling out with the gun on the draw. I think I'm going to return it and spend my money on a Crossbreed Supertuck or similar.

I will also probably pick up a Blackhawk Serpa OWB holster since VA is an open-carry state.

I chose the G26 over the XD because It fit my hand much better, generally felt a lot better to me, and seemed like the better concealment choice. The slide on the XD was a little too tall and thick compared to the Glock, and the grip on the XD is a little longer as well. Not huge differences, but enough to sway me to the Glock. It just felt "right."

Hopefully I can get it to the range soon so I can comment on how it shoots. :)

The shop did not have any Kahr CW9s in stock but I did check out a K9 and P9. Both excellent quality guns and I knew the CW would be pretty comparable to them (same dimensions) but I felt like, right now, I got more for my money by going with the Glock. At some point I might go back and pick up a CW9 or the new CM9 since they are nice guns.

I think next up for me will be a G19. Loved the feel of that gun, but obviously too big for CC. The GF really liked it too. It will make a good open carry, home defense, or range gun thats for sure. I did check out the G17 but that one just didn't feel right to me, not sure why.

I will try to shoot it sparingly! I've seen them going for $900 or more depending on condition. It's a shame I can't really shoot it every day because it really is a dream to fire.

SmoothZ 03-12-2011 06:20 PM

Steve, new holsters need work to 'loosen' up for the gun draw. Depending on the type of composite inside the holster, you might have to practice a lot of draws for it to mold well with the gun. Just a thought or guess.

If it's plastic or something similar, then I guess you need to go find a leather holster. That's what I have for the Sig for concealed carrying.

Dave it's the holster clip itself that's the issue. And it's not really super comfortable since it doesn't spread the load out of the gun like a better IWB holster would. .

I think the Crossbreed Supertuck (Crossbreed Holsters > Home) and a good gun belt will be pretty awesome. Of course I need to check if I can order the holster without all the crosses on it... do not want!

I was just curious. I'm a Glock fan so I like to hear why others choose Glocks. I have the G23 & G36. I CC both, not at the same time. I have the Blackhawk Sepra CQC (OWB) for my G23 and a Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC (IWB) for my G36. The G23 is the same size as the G19 and, personally, don't think it's too big for CC. It is a compact size and tends to be perfect for CC. And since you have open-carry I think the G19 would be even better. Too each their own though. Congrats on the new G26 though! I will be picking up a Gen4 G17 when I come home for R&R.

I handled the the G19 but didn't feel like I could conceal it without printing. I suppose with the right IWB holster with enough cant I could keep the grip from printing.

Although VA is OC friendly, the NOVA area where I live is extremely liberal so, to me, walking around with a gun on my hip is probably going to get a lot of "man with a gun" calls in to the police... more trouble than it's worth up here.

But since I'll probably get a G19 in a few months I'll have to test it out for carry. I feel really comfortable with the G26, though, even though I haven't taken it to the range yet. I love how simple the take down is.

Yeah, I was lucky and got the CF version. It was the last one at Streicher's before everything was on backorder. This holster is the best one I've ever had, and I've gone through many.

m4a1mustang 03-13-2011 05:46 PM

I took the Glock to the range today. I am glad I bought this thing... shoots like a dream!

Have the Blackhawk as well. Too bad their customer service is the worst I've ever received. I'll never spend another dollar with that company. I have the Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC Holster for IWB carry. G23 in the Blackhawk CQC and G36 in the MTAC;

I need a range nearby.

Also, most of my pics are from purchase time. No need to take pictures of old crap.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a good range. There's one about 15 minutes away from me, but the guys who run it are d-bags.

+1 on new pics.

I love it! Be perfect for the G26 you just bought. Link; Comp-Tac Minotaur MTAC. I have the c-clips and notice that my belt has worked itself out of the clips. Going to try the standard clip in the near future. They also just released their Minotaur mag pouch; Click Me. Need to order one of them also. LOL Don't forget to sign up for their news letter. They send out discount codes all the time.

That's good to know, thanks for the info. I think I might go with this one over the Crossbreed for a number of reasons. I'll probably order a gun belt from them too.

Worth thinking about a Kholster as well. You can hack it up with a knife to get it to look/feel right for you.

Yeah I will have to take a look at those as well. I'm looking at the MTAC holster and concealment mag pouch that Robert was talking about right now. I think I might order those + a belt and see how that works for me.

I haven't cause I bought the MTAC and was overly impressed. No reason to replace something that works and is good.

Robert_K 03-13-2011 07:55 PM

It's just a piece of circle cut leather and than some holes punched through it. Doesn't look like true craftsmanship was place into. I'm not saying it doesn't work but just seems... cheap. Don't think anyone will be disappointed with the Comp-Tac.

m4a1mustang 03-13-2011 07:56 PM

Well, the Kholster isn't the best looking but it does look like it gives you the most customization options of all the others as far as the leather backing goes. Like Dan said you could cut it however you want to fit you best.

As guns are largely a personal preference, I'm sure the holsters are as well. :D

Right now I'm trying to decide if I really need to carry a spare mag or not.

Very true. Too each thier own. Can never go wrong with an extra mag. And if you don't feel like carrying don't wear it that day. Its like me and having the 23 & 36. Depends on what I'm wearing and where I'm going on what I'll carry.
