Ok, so on the Off Topic thread, there were a few posts about ghost stories. Decided to create a new thread for this. Only rule is please dont bring religion into this. Otherwise, lets hear your stories!

So when I was a kid the house next to my parents' was empty for a while and being adventurous some of the neighborhood kids discovered that the pet door was a way in. It became a bit of a hangout for a little while.

Two things happened:
1) the house like many others in the neighborhood (same builder) had a laundry chute from the main floor to the basement. It had a hook and latch on it and it would stay unlatched. It was remarkably consistent. We'd latch it and go upstairs and then within 30 minutes it would be unlatched. It happened plenty of times that we were certain no one else had been downstairs.

2)I personally didn't witness this, but late like midnight 1am steps would travel down the hallway from the living room to the room at the end of the hall (past the master suite). Nothing to see, but steps went right by the open doorway.

The details were covered up from us, but there had been a murder in that house some decades prior and that was our best guess.

When my sister was in the hospital dying from Lupus. She said that Aunt Marry is going to take her away, and she is standing at the foot of the bed. There was me, my brother and my sister's 4 kids in the room. This was around 8pm. My sister died around 9pm. My Aunt Marry has been dead for 40 years.

My mom had been in a nursing home for 5 years. February 2011. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She died in March 2011. I got a call at work that she had taken a down turn and I better get there quick. This was Friday morning. So I left work and headed to the nursing home. Mom was still able to talk some. I talked to her for a little bit. A nurse came in and told my mom that she will see her on Monday. She's off for the weekend. My mom said enjoy your weekend. And that you will not see me for long on Monday. Friday night, mom got worse. By Monday morning, her breathing was really labored. That nurse came in to check on mom. She started to cry and left the room. About 5 minutes later. Mom was dead.

This story is free of charge. It is true.

We get new hires that come from the city sometimes. They are scared to death in the middle of the woods at night working. Terrified. Had one stumble on a fresh dear kill at 2:00am in the morning. It was still smoking from body heat. He saw something leaning over it and eating it. He saw what it was but was too scared to tell us what. Heard his buddy that just started working with us from Colorado tell us the truth about it. He called him the next day to ask if he knew what it was and if he had ever seen one. LOL, I feel bad. We were giving him trouble and having a big time. I printed out Beware of Sasquatch signs to post on the fence and laminated them. Ask him to put them on the compound fence. He left not long later and said he would never come back. Guess Sasquatch are real. The guy from Colorado is scared to death if he has to work out in the woods at night. He won't even look out in the darkness while working.

I know you said keep religion out of this but this relates to it. Dad passed away a few years ago, I went to a local religious institution at the time, went into the shop to get some beads and this is where something strange happened. There was a dude there, elderly man, helping me look for stuff. He was showing me how to write in a specific dialect, he spelled out a word, I could not make it out, he told me what it spelled out and it was the name of my father. I tripped out, he had no idea who I was, had no idea who my father was nor that he passed away. the chances of it happening? Slim. Never saw the old gift shop dude after that.

2) The half body man

I think my house is haunted. My house stands in a old military town. Close to the airport. Anyway, here is the strange story. Was late at night, was in high school at the time. I was in my basement working on my assignment. My family was upstairs and they were all sleeping. I finished up at around 1 am, was heading to the stairs when in the living room I thought I saw someone sitting. I thought it was my dad (before he passed away) and called out. No response. I said uh. . . I got closer and the light from the main hall shined into the living room a bit. I got closer and I could see only the half of the figures body, the other half was shrouded in the dark. It wasn't my father.

The figure was sitting crossed legged on the sofa, was wearing dress pants, grey, and from the waist up (from what was illuminated by the light) an old fashioned blazer which was buttoned up. Also was wearing black dress shoes. I didn't even bother going closer, why? I sissied out and ran up the stairs throwing my work on the floor! I ran to my father told him someone was in the house. He said what? He said thats impossible. . . We have an alarm system. . . He grabbed a steel bat I grabbed a knife and we went downstairs. Went to the living room, nothing was there, nadda. We looked everywhere in the house and obviously found nothing. . . He said I was loosing my mind, I wasn't.

Here's where it gets messed up. I know for a fact this house is haunted but the spirits aren't malicious. At night, from upstairs, I can hear voices in the basement but I can't make out the conversations. I can hear laughter and things going clunk as if someone is downstairs. I go down in the morning and sometimes the lights are on, the t.v in one room will be on etc, and I'm the first one to wake up in the morning and the last one to come upstairs. I know. . .

There is a house a few blocks away that is haunted. When the couple leaves for work, the bed will be undone, chairs moved around, tables shifted etc. They have an alarm system and it never goes off. Not malicious spirits just spirits having fun.

I have more stories, will share later on though.

A friends sister who was only 20 yrs old at the time was dianosed with Lukemia. As her health began to spiral down, she kept saying that demons were going to take her - she was on alot of medication so they figured it was her hallucinating.

That Halloween, they had a family party. My friends daughter had a digital camera that she was using, just randomly taking pics without even proper framing or focusing.

One of the pictures was of the girl with Lukemia. She was looking at the camera. In the pic, you could see just over her right shoulder an image that appeared to look like the head of a evil entity - angry eyes, scowl, etc.

In another pic was a group picture of the whole family. Behind them was an arched entry to the hallway. The lights in the hallway were off, but you can clearly see the outline of a demonic figure with a cape or wings that had curvy pointed corners at the top. Kinda like what a Gargoyle would have.

She passed away a month or two after that. She was a very sweet girl and I often pray for her spirit.

Good lord. Makes you wonder does it not? A 20 year old, what sins could she have committed that demons would be after her? Whewwww. I'll pray for her as well. I feel that we only have a basic understanding on how this vast and infinite universe of ours works. We send satellites into space, yet we haven't even discovered the depths of our own oceans. We sent a man to the moon yet we are so far from the heavens themselves.

What we know is just basic understandings. I feel that that God/Allah/Christ/Bhagwan/The Supreme Being or whatever you want to call Him/It gave us mathematics, sciences, philosophy as keys to the locks of this universe. To keep us entertained, thinking and pondering. Just look at how many galaxies there are in this universe, it's staggering and really makes you wonder if all of this is just "random" and came to be because something blew up (Big bang).

Here are some more stories, first hand of course.

1) The UFO

It was a summers day, and it was around 845pm, there was a overcast of clouds and the humidity was high. My family and I just got back from eating out, we went from the back door of the house so that we could take the trash out. My family went inside and I was waiting outside to receive the carry out bins to take to the front of the house. As I was waiting I looked to the sky and there it was. A MASSIVE boomerang shaped object hovering in the sky, moving along slowly, silently.

I'm a big aviation guy, I live near the airport as well. I can tell the aircraft type taking off just by the engine noise, yeah I know. Anyway, this thing was massive yet so silent, it was above the apartment complex above my house and I could not believe it.

It took the shape of a B-2 spirit bomber. But those things are not silent, they make noise. Also, there was no airshow in the vicinity and I checked the flight radar and there was no record of such a aircraft in our airspace for the past few months...

I could not believe my eyes. I was literally frozen with fear and the world literally stopped . All those stories you here you brush them off, and then crap like this happens. The object had MASSIVE spot lights under it, like giant circles. Again I could not believe that such a large thing was SILENT.

When my dad came upstairs, I was in a panic he told me I was nuts and I was like dude? WTH! I'm serious, he did not believe me. I asked around if anyone else saw what I saw, nothing... I checked the local news and what not and apparently no one saw what I saw. I assure you I was not intoxicated, high or tired.

2) Family sighting

This time the entire family saw the UFO, albeit, it was not the same one. I was upstairs closing the blinds of the house and that is when I saw it. A object that was moving around at a blistering pace in front of the moon with lights flashing galore. It was making movements that no aircraft can make. I ran an got my parents and sister. And they all stared at it, in amazement and could not believe it.

We watched the object for a good 10 minutes and then it vanished with a distinct flash. . . We all just looked at each other dumbfounded.

3) The Park walk that went south . . .

A buddy of mine and I went to shoot some pool eat nachos and relax, we hadn't seen one another for months so we decided to kick it. It was around 2 AM at this point and I told him there was a park by the lake that was very remote and quiet. We could kick it there for and enjoy the warm summer air mixed with the cool breeze from the lake. He said sure why not?

My buddy is 6'2, weighs in around 200 lbs and is in the army. He is not chicken. So there we are walking in the lake path and we started to go through the forest. As we were walking through the forest we heard a scream and ignored it, shook it off as some kids fooling around. As we got deeper into the trail we could hear someone following us we looked back a few times but it was to dark. We used the lights on our phone to no avail. The freaky part was as we were walking it became dead silent. You could not hear any birds or any other animals you could here the wind here and there and then dead silence.

Then as we made way half way through the trail we saw something. It was a massive black blob, it was moving around like a bear but there are no bears in the area. I told my friend it must be a fox he said it was too big to be a fox. Whatever it was it stopped and turned attention to us.

I said "uhh, wth". Mt friend grabbed me so I wouldn't run. The thing stood up as a bipedal mammal and it was at least larger than 6 feet tall. The thing was massive and it started to come towards us, not walking, but as if it was gliding on air. We stood there for a good five seconds trying to comprehend what we were seeing, my friend just said "run..." We ran as fast as we coudl for a good 5-10 minutes. Whatever it was wasn't following us anymore.

Strange thing is, when we were heading back to the parked car we could hear whispering of some sort, don't know how to describe it. Was eerie.

If I had the time, Id take a course in Quantum Physics/Theory. That stuff fascinates me.
Heres a UFO sighting I had back in the early 90's

I was stationed in Germany and my unit was out in the field, I was the LT's driver at the time. After the days maneuver exercises, I had to take the LT to the After Actions Review meeting. It was dark, and we were driving on a Tank Trail. We had to be tactical, meaning no headlights, so I was barely able to see 10 feet in front of me.

We were in a M113 and I was in the drivers hatch with it unbuttoned, my head out of the hatch so I can see where we are going. LT is in the Commanders Hatch leaning on the .50 MG. It was a long boring drive so I would look back to make sure the LT didnt fall asleep because if we hit a bump, he'd have a big bruise on his forehead when he bounced off and onto the M2.

I look over my right shoulder and kinda up to see the LT. I noticed in the sky there were lights in a triangle formation. Looked at it for a good 5 seconds. Thought it was some flares (there was live firing around us, so that would not have been unusual).

20 min later, I look back and up again. The lights are still there. We get back to Garrison and I asked my buddies if they saw the lights. Nobody did as they were all indoors all evening.

Something like that would normally have made me really think about what it couldve been. But for some reason, I didnt think about it after that day.

Fast forward a little over a year. I was back in the civilian world, watching the TV Show Unsolved Mysteries. They were featuring a story about UFO over Europe a year or two prior. They interviewed a couple French Police Officers and they recreated the sighting. Same exact thing I saw.

Year after that, the Arizona Lights reportings happened. Same thing as I saw in Germany.

As her health began to spiral down, she kept saying that demons were going to take her - she was on alot of medication so they figured it was her hallucinating. That Halloween, they had a family party. My friends daughter had a digital camera that she was using, just randomly taking pics without even proper framing or focusing. One of the pictures was of the girl with Lukemia. She was looking at the camera. In the pic, you could see just over her right shoulder an image that appeared to look like the head of a evil entity - angry eyes, scowl, etc. In another pic was a group picture of the whole family. Behind them was an arched entry to the hallway. The lights in the hallway were off, but you can clearly see the outline of a demonic figure with a cape or wings that had curvy pointed corners at the top. Kinda like what a Gargoyle would have. She passed away a month or two after that. She was a very sweet girl and I often pray for her spirit. My family and I just got back from eating out, we went from the back door of the house so that we could take the trash out. My family went inside and I was waiting outside to receive the carry out bins to take to the front of the house. As I was waiting I looked to the sky and there it was. A MASSIVE boomerang shaped object hovering in the sky, moving along slowly, silently. I'm a big aviation guy, I live near the airport as well. I can tell the aircraft type taking off just by the engine noise, yeah I know. Anyway, this thing was massive yet so silent, it was above the apartment complex above my house and I could not believe it. It took the shape of a B-2 spirit bomber. But those things are not silent, they make noise. Also, there was no airshow in the vicinity and I checked the flight radar and there was no record of such a aircraft in our airspace for the past few months... I could not believe my eyes. I was literally frozen with fear and the world literally stopped . All those stories you here you brush them off, and then crap like this happens. The object had MASSIVE spot lights under it, like giant circles. Again I could not believe that such a large thing was SILENT. When my dad came upstairs, I was in a panic he told me I was nuts and I was like dude? WTH! I'm serious, he did not believe me. I asked around if anyone else saw what I saw, nothing... I checked the local news and what not and apparently no one saw what I saw. I assure you I was not intoxicated, high or tired. 2) Family sighting This time the entire family saw the UFO, albeit, it was not the same one. I was upstairs closing the blinds of the house and that is when I saw it. A object that was moving around at a blistering pace in front of the moon with lights flashing galore. It was making movements that no aircraft can make. I ran an got my parents and sister. And they all stared at it, in amazement and could not believe it. We watched the object for a good 10 minutes and then it vanished with a distinct flash. . . We all just looked at each other dumbfounded. 3) The Park walk that went south . . . A buddy of mine and I went to shoot some pool eat nachos and relax, we hadn't seen one another for months so we decided to kick it. It was around 2 AM at this point and I told him there was a park by the lake that was very remote and quiet. We could kick it there for and enjoy the warm summer air mixed with the cool breeze from the lake. He said sure why not? My buddy is 6'2, weighs in around 200 lbs and is in the army. He is not chicken. So there we are walking in the lake path and we started to go through the forest. As we were walking through the forest we heard a scream and ignored it, shook it off as some kids fooling around. As we got deeper into the trail we could hear someone following us we looked back a few times but it was to dark. We used the lights on our phone to no avail. The freaky part was as we were walking it became dead silent. You could not hear any birds or any other animals you could here the wind here and there and then dead silence. Then as we made way half way through the trail we saw something. It was a massive black blob, it was moving around like a bear but there are no bears in the area. I told my friend it must be a fox he said it was too big to be a fox. Whatever it was it stopped and turned attention to us. I said "uhh, wth". Mt friend grabbed me so I wouldn't run. The thing stood up as a bipedal mammal and it was at least larger than 6 feet tall. The thing was massive and it started to come towards us, not walking, but as if it was gliding on air. We stood there for a good five seconds trying to comprehend what we were seeing, my friend just said "run..." We ran as fast as we coudl for a good 5-10 minutes. Whatever it was wasn't following us anymore. Strange thing is, when we were heading back to the parked car we could hear whispering of some sort, don't know how to describe it. That stuff fascinates me. Heres a UFO sighting I had back in the early 90's I was stationed in Germany and my unit was out in the field, I was the LT's driver at the time. After the days maneuver exercises, I had to take the LT to the After Actions Review meeting. It was dark, and we were driving on a Tank Trail. We had to be tactical, meaning no headlights, so I was barely able to see 10 feet in front of me. We were in a M113 and I was in the drivers hatch with it unbuttoned, my head out of the hatch so I can see where we are going. LT is in the Commanders Hatch leaning on the .50 MG. It was a long boring drive so I would look back to make sure the LT didnt fall asleep because if we hit a bump, he'd have a big bruise on his forehead when he bounced off and onto the M2. I look over my right shoulder and kinda up to see the LT. I noticed in the sky there were lights in a triangle formation. Looked at it for a good 5 seconds. Thought it was some flares (there was live firing around us, so that would not have been unusual). 20 min later, I look back and up again. The lights are still there. We get back to Garrison and I asked my buddies if they saw the lights. Nobody did as they were all indoors all evening. Something like that would normally have made me really think about what it couldve been. But for some reason, I didnt think about it after that day. Fast forward a little over a year. I was back in the civilian world, watching the TV Show Unsolved Mysteries. They were featuring a story about UFO over Europe a year or two prior. They interviewed a couple French Police Officers and they recreated the sighting. Same exact thing I saw. Year after that, the Arizona Lights reportings happened. Same thing as I saw in Germany.
