I just got back from 5 days on the road with my 80+ year old parents. We went to Cleveland for a wedding...

The one day I had my sister in the car, I had 3 backseat drivers...

It was all I could do to remember the Madagascar penguins... 'smile and wave, boys, smile and wave'....

Not doing that again.... Mom would be all whiny when she couldn't have her McDouble and mocha frappe... I told her that crap was bad for her. Her response was 'I'm 84 years old, I can have what I want... it's only 500 calories'...

yeah 500 calories of sugar and fat....

I'm glad they are still around, but I think this is probably the last road trip they need to be doing. Mom wouldn't have got out of the car, if I hadn't stopped every couple of hours for potty stops and to make them walk some...

This afternoon, I'm off to LA for three days... I return Thursday about midnight....

Got up at 10am, doing couple of hours on the phone and heading to meet a coworker at Maudie's Too Mexican Rest for lunch before heading to clinic for 1hr training and work till 11p.

Your mom is 84. Enjoy her. Life is short enough as is. My mom was 88 when she past. She drove me up a wall. But I loved her.

Part of my challenge over the last few days is that my younger two sisters are completely clueless when it comes to our parents' health. When my sister that's two years younger than me & I try to point out to the other two the health issues, they say 'well, they can't be that bad'.... or 'you're exaggerating'

Yet, they will be the two that come in, throw the sister that lives there out and sell the house and contents and keep the money.....

It really has.. I transferred here from the bay area 15 yrs ago, and it's worse. Down town, you think it was an open air flea market. I've seen 3 homeless pooping in the open in the past 2 months alone...orange county isnt as bad, but getting there.
