I rode in his car also, they sound louder but thats it. You decide; $75 on a pair of drop ins or a couple hundred for the G3's.
i could of swore i read on here somewhere that they said the k&n drop ins reduce your hp?

thanks all for the input... i was going to take my car to z1 this weekend, but i'll be out of town again so ill have to postpone it till the week after.

I don't know if there's any consensus as to how much the drop ins give you. I got them and I don't know if I could notice any gains with my butt dyno. If anyone here is able to feel what 3-5 hp feels like then hats off to them, I sure as hell can't. I certainly didn't feel any losses.

Dyno proven 5hp for K&N drop ins 1-2hp more with the post MAF tubes.

G3's I beleive I have seen about a 9hp gain.

ive also heard that running jet fuel in your car makes it faster, but we all know thats not 100% true

drop in filters do not add power, if you gain any power, its from you going from a dirty filter to a clean one, all drop in filters are good for are not having to replace your air filter as often and you can clean it instead of replacing it

EDIT: someone necrod this thread

Chuck I dig the fact that when you argue with some one you always bring links to the facts to back up your point.

Default Only regret

My only regret is not doing it sooner!
Actually the only pain I see is having to remove your bumper to clean the filters.

They do add power in a 370z my friend. Not so for many other vehicles though.

hey man, what shop did you take it to?

check out zatlanta on facebook. large group and can direct you to a number of really good shops in the ATL area, who won't say anything silly like what your shop did.

There are other options out there. The consensus on here is that Stillen is the way to go. I didn't feel like cutting out a larger hole or the need to spend about $200 more for 3-5 horsepower so I went with the Takeda. Bottom line is it's your car, do what you want but if you're scared of the product before you purchase it then maybe do more research. You don't need a mechanic to install these, getting the bumper off is the hardest part of the install and that's only because it's the typical import hidden screws trick they always seem to enjoy designing.

where about exactly are you in the Atlanta area?

I personally always went to Z1. The guys always took care of my car there and they are fun to just hang out with etc.

In emergencies, when i couldnt get to them as they are 60+ miles away also, I would go to speed for sale who are also good folks.
