With how loud it is in the car, I think it must sound like a stock car from the outside. I haven't heard it from the outside yet, so I don't know, but I get freaked out whenever I get near a cop. The GF says it's loud but not obnoxious or anything, so it must just be loud in the car making me think it's super loud outside when it's really not.
I thought the same myself, but can only assume mines quite a bit louder having the Test Pipes as well. At first i was a bit like "Damn this is a bit LOUD." Either I'm deaf with age/concerts LOL, but i it's just truly grown on me. I'm still waiting to get a chance with the Wife for her to a drive buy so i can get a chance to hear it from the outside.

Although i did listen to Aus370 (7AT) straight after his installation and honestly doesn't appear as loud as i thought. Which is good for driving past the Boys in blue (@normal speeds).

I just about try and find tunnels to hear the re-verb it gives off. Honestly none of the Videos TRULY give this setup justice. The sound really is something to behold IMHO. The bonus part is the power increase. With VDC it is kicking in a lot easier and more often than before also.

Again Tony, thank you very much for your time and effort (service/quality etc.).

Why didn't Fast Intentions use tapered inlet mufflers? The big "issue" is they are square ended, so they stick out, why not use tapered & slightly shorter mufflers and get more ground clearance?

Maybe that's an idea for an option or later update?

Hey kannibul. I attached a Pic of the my muffler section. When you Tapered inlet and Square ended which bit do you mean?

Personally so far i have not had any problems and here in Aus our roads truly are CRAP. Also we have a lot of speed humps and I haven't had any issues yet.

The best way i have found listening to videos is streaming the Youtube videos through my PS3 via my HT set up. Even then, it still dosnt give it justice. Although you do get a VERY good idea of what the sound will be like.

I'm referring to the lowest area of the muffler relative to the ground.

If they have used a tapered design, it would appear to give them a good inch or more of ground clearance.

You are right, your question has not been answered until now. We actually never thought of it until you asked. It would require a new design along with alot of R&D! I have no idea what it would do to the sound or tone until we tried it. I can tell you that the design is doable but not easy and it would increase to cost. At the end of the day it would just be easier much more cost effective to shorten the mufflers by a few inches to increase ground clearance. However, it will increase the sound level and that I feel would kill the deal for alot of people.

Has anyone run the stock exhaust with the muffler delete and then purchased the FI catback?

Im curious at the volume level difference. I don't want anything quieter than what I have now, so im not sure which resonator option I should get.

Just out of curiousity, how would it be a lot of R&D?

I mean, it's fairly simple geometry (and not the whole exhaust) - either using shorter mufflers like you said, or, using a more tapered design (like using a 45 off where it mounts currently until it meets up with the end of a shorter muffler, or heck, even lopping off the lowest portion to the ground and creating a bit of a flat spot there, filling it with a triangular piece. The added benefit would open the door for people looking to lower their Z (or G?), can still buy your exhaust, as well as people who have road issues.

I don't think it'd change the sound (or gains) much, but then again, I don't design exhausts.

Well, if I designed it, it would take a few months to get a finished product from my supplier. You have a good idea and it can be done. If you want, I can do one for you custom and if it goes over big you can take the credit but it will have to be tried first to see how well it will work and how good it will look.

Has anyone actually measured stock vs. FI ride height pre vs. post install? I know in a previous post that Tony mentioned there was about 3/4" difference, but maybe that was an estimation? The reason I ask is because I've seen some pictures posted that show the FI mufflers about 4.5" off the ground, but I think that's around the same height as the pipes leading into the stock mufflers at their lowest point on my Z which isn't lowered.

You are correct, I recently measured it again and it is less than 3/8" difference!
