If they can really do that then they can have the best of both, interesting.

Apparently this idea has been around for a while, a switchable manifold was patented by Seimens back in 1988 and Ford patented a continuously variable manifold in 1998.

Pretty sure Honda did this with quite a few engines also. I know the H22A I put in my Accord had variable intake runners.

Chris judging by your avatar I'd think you'd still like it anyway right? Just making an analagy since we have no numbers and definitly not an attack on you.

If you got a fatter mid section where the power under the curve was higher and in a broader rpm range, wouldn't you rather have that at the loss of (I'm guessing) only a few HP up top? For road racing who really cares if you lost 5hp from 7k to 7.5k rpm if you got +10 from say 3k to 6500 where the car spends more of it's time.

Yes I would definitely consider this even if there was a peak power loss. I spend most of my time between 4-6k when autocrossing.

If any local Z34 owners want to buy the manifold from us at a better price we can work something out for labor & dyno time.
