The Injen intakes are "A/F ratio safe" ONLY if you use them on a stock car (with stock exhaust components). Since the OP will be running a CAI with a catless high flow exhaust then you definitely need a tune. My suggestion is Uprev in this case.
I'm curious, to those of you who have full bolt ons without a tune and saying he doesn't need one, have you done any dyno runs to verify that the AFR is within a safe range? Any datalogs to check the ignition timing? My G has an Injen CAI, Invidia HFC and Stillen CBE. My AFR @ WOT without a tune is right around 14.0-14.2. Several runs with a datalogger showed that the ECU kept pulling the timing at WOT to prevent knock. Now how exactly does the OP not need a tune when he's running a catless setup? There's a lot of V36 G's out there that have made really good gains (anywhere from 10whp to 30whp) due to Uprev tuning. |
