I've heard even the resonated test pipes won't hold up with boosted Zs. It's all good though. I found a workaround and will be going with test pipes

It was being discussed here.

Anyone with experience with the Motordyne ART pipes and turbos? They're not a typical resonated test pipe...

That's nice and all but that's one persons opinion where do the pros sit in on this? Sam? Mike?

I've talked to a few shops and have a few boosted friends who run resonated TP's and have never heard of this issue before.

I have ART pipes and I was told by my tuner they will work just fine with the addition of a TT...and they install a lot of turbos.

Tony from FI says he's concerned about them holding up also: link

I'd still be interested to hear GTM's opinion on it though.

elperuano 05-30-2013 10:25 AM

Yea man. HFC and TP near the turbos, will fry up sooner than later.

Really? I'm gonna have to do some research but sound like I'm going to have to remove mine. What happens when they go out or what do you look for?

Yep, elperuano is correct, and once they start going, you're a BIT screwed, because the honeycomb is not gonna rattle and sit in your muffler. If you let it continue to burn up, you're going to ruin your muffler completely

I asked Tony @ Z days about the Resonated TP and FI he told me not to do it he said (in my situation)either TP or stock cats.
