Anyone know the turbo size the gtr?

G37Sam 07-13-2013 04:39 PM

Copied from GTRlife

Quote:

R35 GT-R turbos - IHI RHF55 same as MY06 STi Impreza
Turbocharger Type RHF55
Turbine Blade no. 11
Compressor Blade no. 6 + 6
Turbine Rotor Size 53mm / 48mm
Compressor Rotor Size 60mm / 46.5mm
Max. Turbine Speed 165000 rpm
Wastegate Open Press. 78 kPa
A/R Ratio 15
Compressor seal material Synthetic mica + Teflon
Bearing Type Floating Metal Bearing

GT-R Turbos

Smaller than say a 2530 turbo on the compressor side, a little bigger than a 2530 on the outlet.

Chuck33079 07-13-2013 04:41 PM

I had no idea it was a pair of 2006 Sti turbos. That's kinda cool.

Dzel 07-13-2013 05:06 PM

That is crazy I thought they would be a Garrett type or something.

Chuck33079 07-13-2013 05:10 PM

Isn't the hot side cast into the manifold?

G37Sam 07-13-2013 05:21 PM

Yup! And for journal bearing turbo's they're pretty damn responsive too! You get positive boost on a GTR straight away at any rpm anytime you put your foot down, even in 6th gear!

COSMO 07-13-2013 07:21 PM

And all of this time I was sold on a ball bearing turbo's. ha... Maybe I should have waited a little longer and saved $2500... lol

Has anyone contemplated stripping the interior for weight reduction?

Oh my bad after talking about meth, electronic displays, and the production of the new GTM intake manifold. I didn't know that weight reduction is where we drew the line on going off topic here. Again my apologies.

No biggie man, Iam just as guilty for changing the subject as well. At this point I really don't think gtm will mind too much since the thread just keeps staying alive.

Don't apologize, all of this talking about different things keeps your mind off the fact you still don't have your TT kit.:excited:

Dzel 07-14-2013 02:39 PM

Lol. I don't have TT's or MHI's, my December doesn't count.

TTurbo370Z's Z has been there forever and a day too, At least December :roflpuke2:

When we finally get our cars back, they may get separation anxiety :rofl2:

elperuano 07-16-2013 01:21 PM

I see certain people have done some research.

Dzel 07-16-2013 01:45 PM

Personally I wouldn't mind as long as I would get at least a monthly update of what's going on whether anything was done to the car or if it had been all r&d.

Does anybody know of excellent tuners in the greater Seattle-Tacoma area thjat could dial my Z in after the GTM MHI TT install ?

SPOHN 07-21-2013 07:18 PM

So good to know for us that another member is selling his deposit on a pre ordered TT from another for the cost of this GTM MHI kit alone.

Baer383 07-21-2013 07:21 PM

I didn't apply that be was buying a GTM kit in any form or fashion. What I'm saying is that his deposit alone is the same as the complete cost of the GTM MHI kit. Basically the other kit is twice the cost of the GTM kit.

Dzel 07-21-2013 09:57 PM

Yes but with all do respect everyone knows I've been on all of the FI builds and threads. That kit is awesome engineering. And that's all in going to say about that.

GTM's Garrett kit is also twice the (group buy) price of their MHI kit. It's not an apples to apples comparison.

Words of the wise.

DO the math, both kits have the value built in, both fill their roles VERY nicely. Lets just leave it at that.

I am very excited to see the MHI kit bring TT to the masses, about damned time.

I am very excited to see the FI kit try to take the Garett GTM kit head-on. The consumer is always the winner when parity is brought into the equation.

Not exactly double. And though it might not be apple to apples. It's the point of being FI. For a stock block you can only put down so much making them all comparable. The 20G turbos are very much close to the Garrett's in the way they make power.

Infidel 07-22-2013 07:15 AM

Just re-evaluated my finances and after buying/paying for the MHI TT and some accessories (excluding oil cooler, radiator and gauges) I figured out that I won't have cash for the install till after the new year. :shakes head:

Looks like I bit off more than could chew for now. The wife is getting some certifications in her field soon so maybe I will be back on schedule if she can land a job...she might be making more than me soon.
