Doesn't it lean more towards knock if it gets louder while under load or driving? But knock u should be able to hear from the top correct?

No, not at all. It means there is pre-detonation of the intake charge i.e. before the spark plug fires. The "knock" is the shockwave that go back through the engine.

Right, but people seem to refer to a knock of this type to be a sign of a bent rod. Surly this engine is not detonating at idle.

And yes the noise is there at idle but will get louder driving.
.. i hate to say it, but that is prolly knock...

lifter tick usually quiets down as rpm (and oil pressure) rises

Hey no one has had part of the top of the motor apart . if the valves where ticking I would hear it on top also. top of the motor is no noise at all just on the bottom.

To me that sounds like rod/bearing knock. I had an engine tha spun a bearing due to oil starvation (not a VQ) and it sounded just like that. It is a mechanical issue for sure.

mine did the same thing it sounded like a hammer hitting the back right side of the intake cover.
It was a cracked flex plate.
this happens when the torque converter comes loose.
the wheel is full of spider cracks .
mine was junk.
got lucly and they replaced it under warrenty.
go back to the guy who installed your engine and ahve him inspect your flex plate,
remove the bolt cover where the torque converter is ..

Yikes!

Now it is that time for you to take out your note that you had your dealer wrote saying they'll cover your warranty even with the supercharger.

Good luck!

Even more reason to lean towards knock if the motor was never touched. Could be from trying to make it all work and probably the countless dyno runs trying to tune that lead to this. Hope for t
