I would think because of the air filter location that it would get dirty really fast.. Hell what do I know..

Well unless you live on a dirt road you should be fine. My old turbos air filter (STS) was completely exposed and only had to change/clean it every other time I changed the oil.

Pre-charger or Dry-charger will go a long way as well.

Right. Plus when it's raining I really don't feel like driving my car. That just means I have to clean it like a mofo again.
