What MOD next? TT or SC?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting another MOD for my Z. So far, the only MOD I've made are my exhaust. I got the HKS exhaust with custom test pipes.

Default What MOD next? TT or SC?

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting another MOD for my Z. So far, the only MOD I've made are my exhaust. I got the HKS exhaust with custom test pipes. What MOD should I do next? I was thinking of getting the Greddy Twin Turbo as my first choice but the Supercharger sounds tempting as well. I've not gotten intakes because if I get the TT or SC, intakes are already provided. Should I do this MOD? Or should I do other MOD first? If so, what? And if i get the TT or SC, what other MOD should be included. (There are no race tracks here but there are street drag races).

Thanks in advance

Before everyone else says it: do a search and read through the many posts in this forum and then you will probably have a good idea of the virtues of the various FI mods available for 370Zs.

Twin-Turbo > Supercharger

What are your power goals?

I use my car daily and would also want a little more power in it. Most of my friends drives Evo's and when we're having some fun, it's pretty hard for me to catch up. I don't want to overtake them but want some power that can keep up with them. I also think about the TT as it will cost a lot for maintenance in the near future.

If you just want a bump in power then 400 whp with an SC should be good. TT will give more but also cost more and has some heat issues associated with it. You may want to buy an oil cooler first. Either way you are going to need one.

What about the Stillen s/c? I'm leaning towards the s/c now. I know the TT will give me headaches one day.

Isn't an oil cooler included in the kit? Other than that, what other things are necessary? Everything in my car is stock except the exhaust and HFC(custom test pipes)

The oil cooler is separate. Also might need some gauges. you already have the exhaust so you wont need much more for the performance side of it. There is a ton of info on here about the Stillen and GTM SC kits.

If you are just daily driving the car then as long as you have a oil cooler then heat really isn't an issue at all.

I have the 34 row cooler with my TT and never see temps above 220. Even on a 90+ degree day after some spirited driving.

I don't know about the Greddy kit but GTM has many different options for either the TT or SC.

You can get a turn key kit that has everything that you need to get running or you can mix and match to your preference.

And as far as extra maintenance for a TT, maybe years down the road there may be more issues, As far as regular maintenance the only thing I plan on doing differently is changing the oil more frequently.

If you install the turbo setup correctly, get a good oil cooler, and have it tuned right, it will be just as reliable(or more reliable) then a S/C kit. S/C tend to build more heat on the intake side and are usually less efficient per lb. of boost.

I didnt really think the evo's would be faster than the Z... figuring they are modded as well with higher boosts?

Yea thats what i figured. Well, you have some options but unfortunately are probably much more expensive that your buddys adding some boost to their already turbo charged cars...

I'll definitely be spending a lot more than them. That's the disadvantage of having a non turbo car. But i'm leaning more towards the S/C kit. Do you think I can be at the same level as an Evo after having the S/C kit?
