** little off topic here but** since im doing this im having an oilcooler installed at the same time. i'm being charged 400 for the oilcooler which is reasonable and average price. but $400 for the install, is that reasonable ?
does anyone know how many hours it takes to install an oilcooler ? |
I don't think thats reasonable.... I installed mine alongside my shop (I like to wrench with them) and It should go something like this...in a perfect world.
Bumper off 15 mins Oil out 5mins If you have to relocate power steering cooler 10 mins Mount cooler to car 10 minutes run and tidy up the lines 10 mins complete oil change 10 mins test run check for leaks 5 mins Bumper back on 15 mins Done 1.3-1.5 hours @ normal shop rate of $80-$90/hr = ~$135 + tax $145. Things aren't going to go 100% right the first time and there will be time wasted so throw in another $65 easily. I'd say somewhere around $200 is more fair. Now where oh where are those idling videos? |

It's just a matter of time, tuning and testing. Some of these will be a little bit, and some may not be possible at all, but they will all be looked at. |
Kyle, pm sent!

I would still like to hear the Stillen S/C kit at idle and on the dyno without all the music dubbed in, i'm :stirthepot:really interested in how much supercharger whine there is.
|
UPDATE: So we keep getting a lot of phone calls regarding the carbon fiber engine cover and I have to ask for some patience on this. It is going to happen, and it will happen soon, but it's not a priority at this time. The main test car is still being driven around and is involved in testing and I am not going to interfere with the R&D process just to make the engine cover. Fabrication of the engine cover will take a couple of weeks and I really don't want to shut everything down for a couple of weeks just to build the cover.
We will start working on it VERY soon but it's still a month or two away from going into production. In regards to the video, I screwed up...I didn't put the microphone on the camera and it sounds TERRIBLE. There is static and background noise from the radio and the air compressor in the shop as well planes flying in the background (remember we're literally on the John Wayne Airport runway)...Josh has been nice enough to not say that I messed up but I did...We will re-do the video soon with the microphone attached and get everything squared away. Give me a few days to get that wrapped up. In the meantime, perhaps some of the guys who went to the Cerritos meet last weekend could comment on the sound of the blower at idle? Thanks for your patience and understanding! |

supercharger whine is a good thing, f'in love it. Can you guys add a small megaphone next to it so it can amplify the whine?
|
^ +1, but its a different kind of whine.
|
LOL... I love the last few comments. I agree with all of the above. I know I'm just taking up space with this post, but I'm dying to see another vid. and HEAR that beast!

SWEEEET, i'm sure those 350z owners with HR engine would be soo happy too, thanks for putting a lot of effort into this matter, but i was wondering if the kit would fit with a little modification, i mean you got the kit fully built now, it only needs to be modified a little to fit other HR engines. |
Quote:
Fitment to the engine is the easy part, fitment to the chassis and body can be the challenging part. For example, it bolts up to the engine, but does it clear the hood? front core support? In the case of the Nismo, does it clear all of the additional bracketry? Stuff like that. We have been talking about this for the past few weeks and we all agree that even though we have customer's calling us with the 07-08 350Z or Nismo 370's, all wheel drive or convertible G's, we will not ship them a kit until WE have confirmed that everything fits and operates perfectly. With that being said, we have had a few customer's with 07-08 Z's or G37 sedan's who have said they don't care how long it takes (as long as it's a realistic time frame) they want to put down the $500.00 deposit to secure the discounted pricing. For those customer's, we are accepting the deposit so that they can lock in the discounted price. |
As a potential buyer, we really would like to hear this thing. We obviously want our car catching everyones eye.
|
supercharged roadster, now that would be the bees knees.
|
Yeah that is the big thing, the Roadster will be a seriously large blast to drive b/c youll hear the S/C double time. We are pretty excited, just going to take a while to get the car to where we want it.
|
i heard a rumor...i hope this is not true...that Stillen is shipping to the 370z first before the g37's...if it is true=-\...i also heard that Stillen wont be shipping until late april
|
Yes, the first units will be the 370Z, followed quickly by the G37 coupes..
Then we'll keep tackling the different versions.. and sedans, and AWD, and convertibles.. there are a lot of variations of these cars, we're not willing to just ship kits and hope they fit, we'll need to touch them and be certain. |

How can their be no vid of this thing and its been weeks? Come on guys, I can record in seconds.
|
also the kits are starting to get sent out soon and no vid yet.

lol.. two completely differing views on the same post.. i love it.. ;)
We're pushing 100% to begin shipping these.. including full manufacturing on all of the components, which is wrapping up next week. We have video, and not that you guys need another excuse, but a computer went down that does the editing, but new one was in Friday.. we'll have something first part of next week to show idling and blower noise, etc. Rest assured, the weeks from now is going to be a ton of buzz on the S/C's, customer installs, which will turn into a ton of video clips and excitement.. and we'll be pounding away on the different variations of Z's and G's.. Exciting! |
blah blah blah lol. keep up the good work
|
Good times ahead for Z owners, look out EVO's and STi's we are a coming
|
lol i like that ^^

As promised.. kind of a ghetto video, but at least you get to hear it. Mic was funny.. kind of a shotgun deal.. but anyways.. enjoy!
|
Sounds good...I figured it would have that bearing sound on idle but when revved its very clean.
Is this the unvieling of the wing?? LOL. I'm still lovin' the sideskirts. When are they available? |
The fascia (the original from the car was cannibalized for the design/modeling of the STILLEN fascia to utilize factory mounting points, because they are the factory mounting points.. hence the different color factory one we have now) and side skirts will be available shortly. The rear wing and roof wing are shipping now.
Need to get some painted pictures of each of these parts, and we'll do an official launch. Definitely have everything dialed in before our Open House on May 8th! |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:46 PM. |
