blacknismoZ 04-20-2010 06:56 PM

Josh@STILLEN 04-20-2010 06:59 PM

lol.. there was a bunch of cords and things in the passenger seat, and stuff on the dash. We pulled it away from the R&D guys lair and outside for just a quick moment. Didn't even notice that..

My bad! I was inside the car and did not notice the rag up there. Sorry about that! I did pull down the clipboard that was sitting on the dash to get rid of the annoying yellow glare off the windshiled but did not see the rag.

travisjb 04-20-2010 08:50 PM

I like it! RPMs seem to pick up with more gusto

RCZ 04-20-2010 10:34 PM

that sounds amazing actually. I am really happy with that!

Btw, what exhaust components are on that car? It sounds louder than mine and I really like it. No rasp.

Ah nvm, shotgun mike = exaggerated audio sources...

Red370 04-20-2010 11:31 PM

sounds like a f'in spaceship, i love it.

SeeyaBud86 04-20-2010 11:56 PM

Everything I wanted and more. Great job Stillen!

Yes, we'd like to get all of this..... as soon as the car is back. lol

Steve Millen is off on some long drives with the 370Z right now.. yesterday he put it through it's paces during some strong rain, and everything is great.

Part of the rigorous process we do for testing and drivability, but feel it's manadatory for a product like this. Dyno tuning is a small portion of building a kit like this in our eyes. Real world testing and tuning is mandatory..

Goolsbymd 04-22-2010 11:17 PM

I have cash in hand, just waiting on more information as requested above 1/4, 0-60/60-120 and how the transmission holds up/overall temperatures etc. Id be driving up from San Diego for the install

Did he ship it out of Costa Mesa to somewhere that gets hard rain? It doesn't really RAIN here. Silly So-Cal-ers. :rofl2:

ZForce 04-22-2010 11:53 PM

Amazing...great job Stillen!

There has been multiple state trips with the Z.. and yes.. rain in Costa Mesa is a touch different from other places.. he happened to hit a big storm.. so when we got a touch of rain.. he was pounding through a ton..

But know what you're saying.. :)

I'd love to hear how the power holds up on a mountain drive...it's the one place where SCs really suffer next to turbos...

I'll second that ... bringing my supercharged MR2 out here i was rather disappointing through the rockies. That is where i wish i would have had the turbo there to keep spooling until it reached some boost rather than the RPM driven SC. Sooo many fun curvy roads, and not enough power to play :(

We have the opposite problem....too many straights and not enough twisties

Good point........

I too hope that this depreciating investment (contradictory statement) will be well worth the cashola from a overall performance and reliability standpoint.

Currently, I am working with Kyle to deliver on to me this SC and a grocery list of Stillen performance goodies. All cooling issues will be covered. Also, there will be a strong possibility of a AP Racing break kit on all 4 corners. 6pot front/ 4rear.

My goal is not balls-out power, but a smooth delivery. Sportbike trackdays do just fine for my adrenial needs. This will be a non-rushed garage project mainly for streets, a few occasional track excursions, and just for the sheer pleasure of working on my vehicle. Self-therapy I call it. The Mrs. says its an excuse to drink beer, talk garage language, avoid dishes, and spend the new house fund. She is right but, I just give her the blank poker face and she moves on.

Perhaps the batch of Stillen and other component bits will sing a sweet melody under the Z's hood to give me the desired results. Time will tell........

I would REALLY like to see ALL the Stillen test car results for some added pre-purchase comfort.

Late April is here, how close are the kits to shipping and ETA for CARB approval?

Kits are extremely close to shipping. Right now the instructions are being checked/verified by one of our technicians. Whenever we develop a highly complex part like a supercharger system we like to give the instructions to one of our installation technicians so they can go through them line by line during an actual install. This way, if they have any questions or find something that should be changed, we can make those changes prior to shipping out kits. We are installing a production supercharger system on a local customer's car to complete this process. This is also the car that we will be using for CARB testing. Some of you local guys might recognize the owner...ABC 7 weatherman Dallas Raines.

We are also working on the instructions for the tuning process. These are pretty basic but we're hoping to use a really simple process for everyone to follow along. I don't want to say too much about this though as it is very unique and we are very excited about it. After this is completed we will be sending out the tuning software so people can begin sending us their ROM's so we can begin finalizing the tunes for everyone.

It is impossible for us to give an ETA of when our CARB testing will be completed because it is entirely dependant on CARB. I can confirm that about two weeks ago we sent CARB all of our documentation and they did confirm with us that we are the only company who has submitted for CARB approval on an aftermarket forced induction system for the VQ37. Now they need to review all of our information, the time frame on that process fluctuates. Then we get our approval for testing. Once we test the car the results get sent back to CARB for further examination. There are a lot of steps in getting CARB approval and there is just no way for us to get or give a definitive timeframe.

screw carb legal. move somewhere that they don't test. lol. Red tape sucks though. Hope they move the process along fast for you.

whiddles 04-28-2010 05:22 PM

Spent all but the last 2 1/2 years of my life in Illinois and Missouri and I must say that I'll take such small inconveniences to enjoy the weather and lifestyle here in San Diego.

Just a minor spelling correction: Illness and Misery not Illinois and Missouri :)

I agree.

Kyle@STILLEN 05-05-2010 01:28 PM

Hey Guys,

Josh and I haven't been able to post much this week as we're both extremely busy working on getting everything prepared for the Customer appreciation day on Saturday. We're expecting a big turn out and have a lot of really exciting programs in place!

We were hoping to send out the cables and tuning information earlier this week but we've just been stretched for time in trying to prepare for the show. Josh is hoping to get some time this week to finalize the instructions on how to retreive the rom and download everything but again, this show has become a distraction. In years past we've had over 1,000 cars show up so you can imagine how much work it is to prepare for that!

Production is going very well. We have almost all of the components and we should be ready to ship very soon.

Thanks so much for your patience!
