Hi Kyle

I asked this earlier to Josh, but what is the capacity of the intercooler reservoir?

thanks

Seb

Smallywood 06-10-2010 06:24 PM

Kyle- How is the sound of the supercharger at idle? I bought a vortec bolt on kit for my 98 VW Jetta GLX and sound from the supercharger at idle was completely rediculous. I loved the added power, but not as much as I hated the sound of the supercharger at idle. Do you have any idle audio clips to share?

RCZ 06-10-2010 06:38 PM

Funny that you ask smallywood, videos of mine coming later tonight.

I found a vid on YouTube. Supercharger whine is overpowering at idle just like the bolt on kit for my Jetta back in the day. I'll wait for your full review before pulling the trigger. Congrats on your kit, I'm sure you're pumped!

Ehh I wouldnt trust the audio in the video too much.... the exhaust sounds like its coming off of a lambo V12 haha. Sounds pretty awesome to me anyway. We'll see later.

Trust me I'm not bashin, just hate the supercharger bearings at idle. Hope it's amazing, I'd love to add it but just want to ensure the performance outweights the irritating idle sound.

Red370 06-10-2010 07:43 PM

I f'in love the way that thing sounds, that whine is music to my ears, just sounds like f'in POWA!

I want a full review of the useable power and if it comes on quick. Im jealous.

Red370 06-10-2010 07:51 PM

RCZ was a f'ing ninja with this whole thing, I didnt think anyone would have personal vids up on a supercharger for months, kudos to you good sir.

Mike 06-10-2010 07:52 PM

I had a V2 on my C6 and it was silent at idle. I would expect the V3 to be the same. Procharger is a whole nother story though.

I don't know the exact capacity...I'll check with my engineers tomorrow and find out from them.

I was actually pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is during day to day driving. I also gave it the famous "girlfriend test." If my girlfriend, who called my truck OBNOXIOUS and says she hates customized cars and trucks, doesn't mind or notice anything then it passes the "girlfriend test." Her and I took out the red car one night to the local CA meet and then out to dinner and drove around for awhile...I had the radio turned off the whole time...She never said a word about it...Until I decided to have some fun and STOMPED on the gas and gave her a bit of a fright lol! It was pretty funny...

By the way I'm completely serious...On our second date I pulled up to her front door after I just had my 2007 Toyota Tundra lifted and the first words out of her mouth were "Oh my god that thing is obnoxious"...Needless to say I walked her back to her door, jumped in my truck and went out to the bar with my buddies....She called me back a week later asking for a second chance...LMAO!!!

:rofl2: that is definitely WIN!

jnaut 06-10-2010 10:51 PM

Yeah, that's the way everyone commented on the kit I had. Then at idle everyone always asked "what's wrong with your car?"... Lol unless they knew something about cars.

Pure win there. Should have had her make you a sammich for the road first, though. :)

There is absolutely zero "rocks in the blender" sound from the blower in that video. I wish...wish...WISH my Vortech blower had of sounded like that. I know the obnoxious rattle of which you speak at idle. Doesn't seem to be in the existing kit Stillen is offering at the moment. At least, I couldn't discern it from that video.

that is definatly louder then the GTM lkit. but it still sounds sweet. good work RCZ. any driving vids?

Kastley85891 06-11-2010 12:57 PM

In for vids for sure, nice work

Chris_1 06-11-2010 01:43 PM

I think the GTM kit is WAY to quiet, but you have to admit now that both kits are out everyone will be happy. THe Stillen kit is the kit you get when you want the sound and want the show. Gtm is for the more subtle people who want the power, just none of the show to go with aftermarket stuff.

I for one, MUCH prefer the Stillen setup b/c the show is their, the go is their, and the sound to finish it off. I must say well done to both companies, but as a car that will be a show/track car for the company and showed off EVERYWHERE, we much prefer the Stillen way for marketing purposes.

Both are great kits. Just depends on what you're looking for.

How about this: we install the kit on your car, then take vids. Deal? :icon17:

When I get back into town we will be talking about this. I am super excited for the stillen kit. Just want to see one person with it soon before I make the jump for SC instead of the TT kit since your toy rips it up! We will have more heat issues to resolve too. RCZ what is the deal, it is killing me waiting for your post!

Josh, Beshoff's estimated build time is 12 hours, pretty impressive

Seb@SZ 06-14-2010 11:13 PM

Very nice! Can't wait for the results.

Definitely.. it's very much a bolt-on system.. nothing scary, and a lot of it comes pre-installed such as the main supercharger assembly, as well as the intercooler inside the intake manifold.

Anything we could reasonably do beforehand is done..

LateralG'z 06-16-2010 08:22 PM

What is the deal with the update, it is Wednesday and I am dying for an update
