A VR swap is something worth considering but it will come with some disadvantages, especially for someone who did an incremental build and already has tons of VQ specific components.

A VR swap is something worth considering but it will come with some disadvantages, especially for someone who did an incremental build and already has tons of VQ specific components. Its pretty likely that youd need to switch to a full standalone for a VR swap as well, which can be a pretty large expense in itself. If the cost were equal, I would take a billet VQ over a cast VR. The negative on the billet VQ is the guinea pig factor for the first round of users. Side note, I would be afraid to use a billet VQ without an upgraded crank, as imagine the tragedy of losing that billet block to a cheap stock crankshaft.
