I read to where I dropped off the car at MA back in Febuary 2019. Good lord this has been a journey.

I learned a lot about your build and a few other's in this thread .As far as the video's I didn't watch any of those would have taken me forever :roflpuke2:. As far as this platform goes I didn't learn much that I didn't know already. The fact that I had a build engine 7 years ago and drove it for 20k miles it didn't blow up helps my learning curve big time with this platform. My build this time started last year March I already decided then to build this one stronger that the last one it's the reason I went with the RJM closed deck block I don't want to deal with head gasket issues or cylinder's shifting and cracking over 800whp I have seen some nasty pictures. my old built short block is still in once piece. Hell I even snapped my transmission input shaft back then like butter that I still have pictures of lol.

I will work on my 2nd motor build in 2 years time. I should have about 50 to 60k miles on it then if all goes well. We shall see what innovations happen by then and go from there. That is the third input shaft I have heard of that broke.

Mr.Squeeze 08-15-2019 12:40 AM

This was Sep 2013 O.S Giken tripple sliced right threw it .

One of the guys that posted on my thread broke his also. He was running an OS Giken clutch. His car was build by MA Motorsports also. His next step is a Hollinger Sequential.

That closed deck isn’t going to solve the head gasket issues, either o ring the block, or wait and see how cjm vr head bolt conversion goes. That car he helped built is a open deck with a 1069whp.

Spooler 08-15-2019 08:40 AM

I will say this once again. The ATS Triple Carbon clutch is outstanding. Pedal pressure is close to stock. Modulation is easy. It feels like a stock clutch. This clutch is worth every penny I paid for it. Too bad you don't see it used more often.

I forgot to mention. The video's are where all the good stuff is. Especially about machine work. Those were the learning opportunities.

Spill the beans if you can. Obviously some peps are having issues and not talking.

Very tight lip about it. Didn’t say much, but a highly respected shop talked about it with me. He had a closed deck block made little over 900 wheel and had issues with his heads lifting and pushing coolant through the HG. I also had a buddy making 780 experienced it his first week out using rjms block again with a highly respected shop.

Spooler 08-15-2019 10:07 AM

I haven't had any issues with mine and I have been in 102 deg temps running it hard. Guess I am glad I did what I did.

It is obvious that a few builders have got it figured out and the closed deck has more to do with cylinder wall strength and heat management than the heads lifting.

I really interested to see how your set up works out, I’ve heard good and bad things about the rjm closed block. Is Seb going to modify the block at all. AMS didn’t like his block design.

Interesting, it's all about what happens at the machine shop. Seb is a fan of the closed deck block and highly recommends it for high horsepower builds. It is about what your builder is comfortable with and has confidence in.

We tend to hear more about failures than we do successes especially when the shop involved may had some notable failures. All shops have failures along the way and is necessary for learning. It is why many do shop builds so they can push the limit without risk to a customer car.

Oh trust me I am waiting to see how the CJM head bolt conversion does. I'm also not 100% sold the RJM closed deck block will hold but for the price of the bare block you can't beat it. I have looked high and low it's just not many people on this platform pushing over 800 plus WHP. Even after all these year's it's still a learning curve on this platform. I don't mind at all sitting back in the 800-850WHP range and watching.

Hey I have no doubt that those videos had good information but when trying to crash course 100 plus page thread I had to skip by something lol.

Go back and catch them all would be my suggestion. Some things that are in there are very important.

Here are my pre-corner balance sheet. This is before the TT kit, OS Giken diff, SSR wheels, Diff cooler, DSS Pro level axles. This is with 180lbs in the drivers seat. I was running the factory Nismo wheels with RE11's 285/35/19 front and 325/30/19 rear.

LF: 988 RF: 941

LR: 814 RR: 772

Front%: 54.8%
Rear% : 45.2%

Cross weight %: 49.9
Total weight: 3515

Here are the after numbers. My weight in the drivers seat was 200lbs.

LF: 1036 RF: 984

LR: 885 RR: 832

Front%: 51.4%
Rear% : 48.6%

Cross weight %: 50.01
total Weight: 3737

I have gained 222lbs total. My weight has added 20lbs. So the car
has gained 202lbs after all of the modifications. Most of the weight gain is in the back and that is not a bad thing. This is with full interior both times.

Totally not what I would of expected. I really thought that weight would be upfront with all the turbo items. Guess removing the stock manifolds and all that piping with turbo piping saves a lot of weight up front.

I am glad I had a before and after. It surprised me also. I am dang close to 50/50 weight distribution. Who would have thunk it?

Pics and video's will not do it justice. You feel, smell, and experience so many things in the car it's overwhelming at times. It took me several drives to soak it all in. Come to Zdayz next year and you can get you a ride. Or, you can fly in to Orlando's airport and come to the Ocala Wannagofast event.

I get a kick out of people calling these small cars & don’t realize the actual weight; mine weighed 3640# with me & all interior, full fluids.

Wow. That's impressive.

I'm still blown away by your build (and the other 800+ cars). 500whp in one of these is a rocket. I can't imagine adding another 300+ to it.
