I run the 0w-50 Eneos in my Supra. Seb changed me over from M1 to that before he tuned it.

Are you the black Supra that he recently tuned but won't show numbers?

Reviving an old thread....Anyone else have any experience with the Eneos brand? Wish we had a supplier here. I’m currently using the Mobil 1 European blend 0W-40 as well. Heard great things also about Liqui Moly which just recently became available here through a local distributor but comes in at a cost of almost $95.00 for a 5 liter bottle ur could probably get it cheaper through an employee discount @65.00 for a 5liter 0W-40 as well. Trying to figure out if I should make the switch to this or the Eneos. Mobil 1 runs about under $40 for 6 quarts out here.

This and if your plumbing is not right can have a significant impact on cooling or heating things up.

Which one though? There's more to oil than what temp your gauge ends up showing, or what numbers the bottle shows. I wasn't going to say anything because there are entire websites/forums dedicated to oil, ( http://bobistheoilguy.com ) but the fact that your tuner simply suggested a different weight, and not an actual product, means he doesn't really have any idea what to tell you. Other than, "you'll run hotter, buy bigger numbers". Im not FI yet, but I run Mobile 1 0W-40. You will find that this oil is loved by many folks for scientifically tested reason. I'd say do lots of research, or get advice from someone who actually knows what they are talking about, which is what you are doing here. "Trying 5w40" doesn't sounds like the best approach though.

Just an FYI... The "W" does NOT stand for weight. It actually stands for winter. The lower the number, the lower the cold temperature protection.

Are you guys saying even with a thermostatic plate, oil temps are not warming up in a timely manner? What's going on?

Well I was talking about the oil temp remaining in spec whenever you’re just cruising down the road and occasional mild “spirited” driving. If I got the hammer down the oil temps go up but when the cooler air is steady on it the temps will drop well under that spec temperature. Which I believe is 180 degrees F. But don’t quote me on that just yet.

As long as you stay above 160 you are good to go. A sandwich will help to a degree. I run without one!

Probably because they have the oil temp sensor in the stock location (post cooler) which isnt ideal. I would see 80/100 degree oil temps in cool weather in this location, i switched the sensor pre cooler and saw 170/180 degree temps. This happens because the oil gets overcooled when the plate is closed>limited flow to the cooler and when it mixes with the oil going back to the block you see really cool temps. Anyone else experience this too?

Now the real question is
What brand of gas are you using with your TT setup?

ugh this is the worst part of being in Korea...the gas out here is so unregular that I have to tune at a 91 octane in case a station i go to claiming to have 93 is actually 91....better to be on the safe side than running lower than what i am supposed to

schaeffer's 5w50 race oil with zinc/phosphorus additives.

remember, you are feeding oil to the engine and turbos.. this car runs hot as is and you want the best protection... when i ran n/a i just had mobil1 5w30 synthetic..
