Messed up oils

Did some diy oil change after working for 10 hours. Put diff oil to trans and trans to diff. Am i safe for some short rides? Thanks for your help. On phone sorry for short thread message.

Short edit: im asking this because i live far away from Riga(capital) and won't have oils to change again for a week. I used oils recommended in diy section, but old head was too tired.

Which oils did you use? The MT calls for a GL4 oil and the diff calls for a GL5 oil. You might be ok to drive it a very short distance but I'm no expert. Personally, I probably wouldn't risk driving it at all unless it was to a nearby shop for replacement oils. A quick Google search might tell you more.

ye exactly, i used gl5 in tranny and gl4 in diff

I live pretty far from a big city that would have anything that I'd put in my car like redline or motul oils

I wouldn't worry about the brand, but I would change to the correct viscosity

I would try and change out the tranny oil as soon as you can. GL5 oil is not good for the synchros in the transmission.

The gl5 can eat the yellowing in the syncros but it has to be at an extremely high temp (I forget the exacts) so as long as your not beating on it or towing you should be ok a bit but I would change it ASAP.

If it was strictly and merely GL5 in transmission, it would be about the synchro gears being unable to synchronized the gears quickly (I.e. shift a lot slower and with revv matching to avoid grinding), but the sulfur-based additive in gear oil might do some damage chemically on the synchro gears that are made of softer metals.

GL4 in the diff is likely okay; it's less slippery than GL5, but it shouldn't hurt anything.

Oh i hope tranny won't be damaged from driving 30 km wth gl5 since the mess up

berely any difference, its fine, i actually mixed w70 and w80 together for my tranny, so i can shift smoother, and dropped lower weight of oil in to my diff, so that it has better lock.

You're correct. I also read something about the additives in the GL5 that doesn't like yellow metal.

However, I've also read that today's GL5 'MAY' contain different additives for the extreme wear protection that's compatible in the transmissions.
