The effectiveness is the same to keep the tension as long as you make sure you get a 3" OD idler.

I see no reason to overrev your engine for SC'd Z especially if your using a self-lubricated head unit. The max RPM of your SC has already set a upper bond. Below that you can simply change the pully setup to get the power you need. Be sure to not go overboard to exceed its compressor efficiency otherwise the heat soak issue will make you beat a dead horse.

What oil pump are you using?

I'm actually running engine oil through it, so the stock 370z oil pump. The company here in Aus who upgraded it did that so it doesn't have the self lubricated part anymore, that thing is crap haha, so I've tapped into my sump for the return etc..

Thought it would get a higher peak figure with the higher rev range and shift into a higher range for the following gears, probably overthinking it lol

So you got your V-3 converted into engine-oil-fed version from SL? Awesome! What oil feed/return kits are you using? Any links? Have you replaced the stock bearings with the H/D ones or...?

Yeah, I'll have to try dig up the invoice to show what's different.

Everything's been upgraded to better stuff like bearings etc. I'll be doing some pulley changes once the E85 tune is sorted on current gear, so basically it's had impeller upgrade/bearings etc.. it had the 9psi stillen pulley on it already so guessing 500ish wheel HP then see where the fuel pump/injectors are at before upgrading the pulleys. (I got the Aeromotive 340 and Idx1050's, so guessing pump upgrade needed here).

Not sure if I missed something but is there anything that needs to be upgraded to the car to get this working the stock stillen SC kit?

Yes. I had material removed from the inside of my stock crash bar to allow enough room for the intercooler in TopGunz kit. It was only a few mm and then TIG welded the seam where the material was removed from to make it strong again.

Oil catch can with TopgunZ kit

Good morning all. Please point me to the right thread for this. I have the stillen SC with TopgunZ A2A. I just received my Admintuning coolant/oil catch combo. Has anyone installed this with the setup I have. If so please show me some pics or a how to, or please link to the correct thread. Thanks guys/girls.

Now that I’m done with my flex tuning, all I have to do is prepare for a 2300 mile round trip Denver-Los Angeles (cuz you can’t say your car is reliable until you’ve driven it through isolated desert hundreds of miles from decent civilization). And decide what’s next.
I haven’t seen anybody run a BOV other than the TiAl, any reason? I’m looking into running a HKS, and aside of doubld checking flange size and spring rates are compatible I don’t see why not.
Anyone to stop me? I need a HKS in my life anyways so even if it doesn’t work well on this, I’ll put it on a different car

If I plumb my Bov back into my Intake do I need to re tune ?
Want to shut it up

Redondoaveb and I are using a silencer we got from (Lspec?) that works pretty well. I had to modify it and drill in more holes and remove a screen in it because it was causing compressor surge but it’s better now and that gave me a little more volume back (the silencer works that well). They said they were redesigning it and would ship me the new design free of charge but that hasn’t happened. You can ask him about that

Told me $250 for first batch (which was a while ago) and 300 after that. Just followed up with him if they ever finished the new design

Alex (L-Spec) hasn't had any time to fabricate any new one's. He's been extremely busy. A lot of his spare time is being used on my car. I'll remind him about getting you a redesigned one when he get's back to fabricating them again.

Because Tial is top of the line in performance and quality and made in the US. HKS was good when they were HKS U.S.A. but since they sold to China their quality and reputation has gone to ****.

What is your goal for switching from a great, reliable BPV to one of cheaper quality? That and do you even know how many cfms an ssqv can flow? The turbosmart dual was used a lot on the water setups prior to my kit and it couldn't flow even close to what was needed.

Plus, I dont know how the HKS will sound on the SC but on a turbo those things sound like a cartooney bird with their high chirps and whistles. The ones I have heard anyway.

Oh I’m not in the slightest rush or annoyed. Had he never offered, I wouldn’t have asked for a new design. Drilling a few more holes in it helped with the surge and gave me a bit of volume back which I liked. He did respond and expects a couple months

I’m big into sound tuning getting my car to sound exactly the way I want. Guess I like the choochoobirds :icon14: I like the HKS option also because if it doesn’t make me happy on the G I can recirculate it on my WRX (which currently has zero choochoo noises).
Good answer about the CFM flow though that’s exactly the response I was looking for. Found a video of someone running one on a Vortech BRZ though so perhaps it could work

Nope. :rofl2: I ordered a pre-filter for my Turbo Guard screen. I'll run with it daily and when I want more power I'll pull it off. Only takes a few seconds.

I've been talking to the company in Australia about making the set up that the chap above who got his crash bar back on had

They said a one off would be to expensive and asked if anyone else would be interested in a kit.

Torque looks a bit low for the HP; as the HP is a mathematical equation derived from the torque x engine RPM’s :ugh2:
I could be missing something...it is early :wtf2:

That’s not a very useful graph. HP/TQ vs speed.

No, I just need something to mount to my riding lawnmower to keep rum, coke and ice in. It works perfect because it has a built in straw that reaches all the way to your mouth. :hello:

I'm planning on buying your kit tomorrow. If I need to take it off to install your A2A kit then I can send you mine.

blaineanator 08-15-2019 09:18 PM

Would anyone on this thread happen to have a spare stock coolant reservoir?

Also, where could I buy a used 9 PSI pulley for the STILLEN kit? Im trying to hit 500WHP.

Thanks guys!
