Yes reset after adjustment, so your fuel trims relearn.

I would go back to the stock spring it came with, reason is.. we know it works!

Remember! it might take a 4-5 mins for the ecu to find its target AFR, adjust out of the car, until its fully opened. Put back together and allow it to idle for a few minutes to flatten out your idle.

Okay I honestly hadn't been resetting with each adjustment, just reset when I first swapped the Bosch unit out. Will try again using your method , sounds like it should work !

There's no way you need a retune. I swapped my turbosmart out with a Vortech mondo race. That thing vents 4 Times the air the Bosch does and twice as much as the turbosmart could.

You guys think the turbosmart sounds good?...you should hear the vortech.

Look for the guys running the 350s with the vortech kit. That's where I heard it first hand.

Okay, I just don't understand why this valve is so difficult to get working right on my car. I followed your recommendation EVO and adjusting with a vac line out of the car, ended up having to trim the spring a tiny bit to get the piston wide open at idle. While this setting held idle great, the valve wasn't closing off on accel and car basically wouldn't pass 2500rpm. Tightened it some but its still venting off early. Part throttle driving the car went into limp mode, assuming cause it detects a massive air leak? No SES or warnings though.

Car is also running pig rich, leaving soot everywhere.

I'm usually up to the challenge of tinkering until I get things right, but I'm honestly considering going back to the sh*tty plastic valve. I don't want to harm the engine by running too rich..

Before that, I'm going to drop in the pink spring just to see how it acts with a stiffer spring. I've tried going softer and softer and softer but with no luck. Currently she drives great on the highway under heavy load, but getting it right for light throttle around the city is the tough part..

Any luck getting it dialed in Xo? How many springs does this thing come with? From what ive read it seems that theres more thane one spring and that they're color coded.... which one is the right one to use for our cars?

Haven't had too much time to tinker with it since Thursday, work has been super busy. Finally put some time aside today to get this figured out (hopefully).

The actual turbosmart valve will only come with one spring, and it's red/pink. I read on another thread either here or on myg37, that somebody had to use the blue spring (softer) with their setup. Trying to be ahead of the curve I figured I'd order the valve and the blue spring. I think my mistake was starting with the blue spring, I should have popped it in with the pink spring and played with that one first.

A bit later I'm heading to the garage and swapping in the pink spring and adjusting it from there, will post with updates later! Hopefully I can save anybody considering this valve in the future the same headache

After a bit more research I've found our cars tend to idle around 20in/Hg (sea level?), so it looks like the pink should be what we want..

These are the three different springs offered by Turbosmart, with their respective vacuum pressures.

BOV Kompact Soft Spring-Blue
TS-0203-3001
Vacum High -13InHg, Vacum Low -3 In Hg

BOV Kompact DP Spring-Pink (included with valve)
TS-0203-3002
Vacum High -24InHg, Vacum Low -14In Hg

BOV Kompact PB Spring-Green
TS-0203-3003
Vacum High -19InHg, Vacum Low -9In Hg

So with this pink spring in, your not getting mad chatter/flutter? Mine was so bad I couldn't even drive the car out of embarrassment. I needed the blue spring, plus I had to trim it down even. Its holding all 10psi of boost also.

Success!!!

Finally got it running like the bosch valve. It did require me to use the pink spring, the blue spring was just way too soft and it wouldn't close when it needed to under light load. Bit weird that you're running more boost and had to use a softer spring than I did... Maybe it's cause you're on an upgraded block? Or due to where your BPV is located in the air to air setup? Not sure.

I popped in the pink spring, set it about 2 turns harder than the softest position. This was a little bit too tight, as the valve wasn't opening at idle. So I softened it a little more and eventually got it damn close to perfect. Took it out for a drive after cleaning exhaust tips / bumper, and no more nasty exhaust soot going everywhere. Will have to grab a datalog with cipher but seems like a/f is in check again!

My current set up is the pink spring with no spacers, about 1/2 turn harder than fully soft on the cap. Maybe the green spring would be our ideal choice to have a bit more room for adjustment.

BOLIO, what I would recommend if you want to try it is buying the valve and adjusting it with the pink spring first, if for some reason you need it to be softer like topgunz, you can either trim the pink a bit or buy the blue or green one, but honestly I didn't need the blue one at all. Green might have been nice. Would have resulted in much less of a headache if I started with pink instead of blue

So so sooo happy that it is running great again

As far as flutter with the pink spring, under normal driving i've been having clean vents free of flutter. There was one specific scenario where I vented it around 6500rpm testing it, and under that load I was getting some flutter which means I have to go just a bit softer. But from what I read on the Evo forums was these springs tend to 'break in' and soften up a little with regular use. So I'm going to wait at least a few days before I try to soften it any more to let the spring get settled in. Next few days will just be driving to the office so I won't be driving like a bat out of hell anyways

And damn does this thing sound good, can't imagine the sound with the vortech race valve that Top suggested.

Thanks again for all your help guys, without the support on the forum I probably would have just returned the valve and tossed the bosch one back in.
