Speed density is not hard to do, it would cost about 60$, buy a 3bar map sensor.
its actually really easy to do.

You have use the MAF signal wire on the mafs, splice that into your MAP sensor, then map sensor to 5v source, and map grounded on body.

We are going to talk to the tuner tomorrow about it. He tunes all their GTRs and the place usually looks like this.

Sweet man, let me know what he says

EVOHUNTER 08-23-2015 11:43 AM

We need to find a 5v source, or we could use a 5v regulator.

JWillis72 08-23-2015 11:45 AM

I will for sure let you know what he says.

It's a bummer you ran out of MAF but the number give me a good feeling about this set up once we get over the hurtle. Your car is making 10whp less and 29tq more than my car at full speed and 8lb, that's a great start!

WoW man sux'd about the Mafs , something is missed readi this also, sorry :( I swapped mine cause I knew I was going to run out at 450 ish WHP. I thought you had UPREVs so didn't mention it. But it looks like those wouldn't have mattered either :/. The the numbers are there you should be able to get to 500WHP if you can get it ironed out!! Great work man and looking for you to crack that 500!

TopgunZ 08-23-2015 09:05 PM

I fabbed up a Frankenstein intake today. Im not thrilled about the maf placement but we will see how she goes.

What size pipe are the MAFs in?

ANMVQ 08-24-2015 07:15 AM

Pics? The more I though about this I think this was the reason I said we'd need a dual intake pipe like the GTM kit, I think the BIG single split to 2 for the MAF's just has way to much air flow :/

TopgunZ 08-24-2015 08:24 AM

Mine has it split from a 3" to 2.75" pipes. Then the mafs are right there in each pipe after the split about 4" up. That's what I don't like. But yes, they are in their own pipe each.

And by fabbed I mean I used the stillen intake Y off the kit. This is the best I could do in trying to get this done by Wednesday. So if you look at that pipe you will see how close my mafs will be by the split and the 45* bends. I have a honecomb air straightener right before the "in" on that pipe. I hope this is enough to keep the fluctuations at bay from not having 4" to 6" of straight pipe before the mafs.

Thoughts on this?

JWillis72 08-24-2015 09:03 AM

Did you add straight pipe to the Y right before the TBs for the MAFs? We were talking about trying that last night and using the Stillen Y but I need to go look at the car and see if there is any room.

EVOHUNTER 08-24-2015 09:13 AM

Im dropping my car off with sasha one of these days, Hes going to try to remake that pipe and see what we can do!

Making it bigger or splitting into two?

That flow orifice isn't likely to help much if you are y-ing off it after. You are just going to recreate turbulence at the y. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I tried. There isn't a lot of room. It can be done but it will take a 90* bend right after the maf into the tb for the rear tb and then the front tb would almost need a cobra head which is even worse. But it "could" work.

I figure that it will at least introduce straight air to begin with before hitting the Y versus having the extra turbulent air from the IC and bends up to that point coming in all toilet bowl flushey. Either way, it can only help and not hinder.

Boosted Performance 08-24-2015 09:52 AM

This is how I had set it up:

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...pshjqxpror.jpg

I am disappointed and surprised that it did not work out as I had anticipated. The Sensors are in a 3" pipe, and the sensor bungs are extra tall. I guess having them in one pipe is the big issue here.

I am thinking that if these tall sensor bungs are used in 2.75" tubing, they should be good for 550whp or so wit these tall MAF sensor bungs, as this was good to about 550whp on the turbo kit with low profile MAF sensor bungs.

Ideally, I will try to do it with 3" pipes, but it will be extremely tough since the room to make a Y pipe is at a premium. May have to use some tighter radius cast pieces...we'll see when the car comes back I guess.

One way or another, I will make it work.

jwick 08-24-2015 10:11 AM

If you could squeeze a 4" pipe where you mount the MAFs it'll give you slightly more area than two 2.75" tubes.

Its a 3 " section right now.

I think it would have to be a 5" atleast.

True. The comparison I was making was the flow area of two 2.75" intake tubes against one single. As Sasha mentioned you can get up to 550 whp in a turbo setup with two 2.75" tubes. Doing the math a 4" gives you more area than two 2.75". Going with a 5" would give you almost 40% additional flow area over the 2.75"s.

Pro4Jackster 08-24-2015 02:53 PM

Is there any way to make a spacer for the MAF Sensors to pull them out of the airflow a little further?

Also, the HR Stillen kit used a different style intake without a Y. If I had to guess I'd say it was around 4". It shouldn't be too hard to fit a 4" section in place of Evo's current 3".

EVOHUNTER 08-24-2015 03:22 PM

Maybe this would work? I dunno.. its hard to say

Either way, I know this kit will produce big power. I put down more TQ and 25 less WHP then last year. this was only at 6 psi and reving up to 5000rpm.
I don't know if this is kit design that gave me more TQ or the boost coming on at a lower RPM. either way, this kit will be unreal once we get over the hurdle.

Stillen Air to Air setup

That's a big pipe, I'm not sure there is room for it. Maybe if it was short.

Yes, it was designed for fitment. My stillen will anyway. Oem, probably not.

TopgunZ 08-26-2015 12:46 PM

Car wont dyno. Huge oversight. Since I used the stillen y pipe my mafs are in backwards. It was a pull through and I am using it as blow through.

Back to the drawing board.

Oops. I'm surprised it ran.

JWillis72 08-26-2015 01:07 PM

Oh crap, sorry to hear it.

TopgunZ 08-26-2015 02:24 PM

Problem solved. Just opened up the holes and flipped the mafs. But now she runs pig rich.

Edit...Meant lean as hell. My AFR is set to Lambda and I am at 1.29 which is high as it can read so it could be well over that. Not safe to drive on. I am getting a new map made but I keep running into people on vacation. The guy that will build it for me left last night and won't be back until next week. Once I have the map I can take it down the 40 miles to the tune shop.

JWillis72 08-26-2015 02:27 PM

Did you reschedule dyno time?

That sucks dude! I haven't heard back from Sasha yet. Im not sure what we will do at this point. Hopefully everything goes well for you!

TopgunZ 08-27-2015 11:19 AM

Yes he will not reply to my concerns about the piping I purchased from him.

I have rescheduled the dyno for Saturday the 12th of Sept. Soooooo...till then.

It sometimes takes a little longer ....:stirthepot:
I could tell you my story!
But that would take far too long................
