I wonder if there was problem with them? :/ That air straighter is awesome, I got mine coming aswell! Looks like all of us are moving in the right directions! |
They come in 600 or 1000 now. I ordered a set of 850s and got 1000 so I sent them back and called Z1 for 850s and was just told they stopped making them.

I'm on a stock block and stock 7AT so I kind of expect to brake one of them but I hope it's not both at the same time! My plan is to get this all done before Oct 3rd so I can take it to Sebring that weekend and see what it can do.

Stillen Bracket Reinforcement
2 Attachment(s)
Found a few pics of the Stillen Bracket on line and did a real quick job of photoshopping them to just to illustrate the weak area I'm referring to.
If you notice in the picture that has the SC'r attached to the bracket it actually looks like it is solidly designed and constructed. It is, however, deceiving. The SC'r itself stands off from the bracket by about a 1/4" or so with a rather stingy spacer --- and to make matters worse, it is only supported part way around. The SCR is held in space (pun intended) by only the 3 bolts and the small surface area of the spacer. In the next photo I airbrushed out the SC'r [very quickly and not to scale] just to illustrate the small surface area [highlighted in red - again not to scale] that is being asked to support the SC'r under load. This is where I feel there is the need for reinforcement in order to reduce the bracket flex. There is room enough to create a more substantial spacer - extending it's mass to the left [clearing the belts] bolting it to to the main bracket plate with either 3 more bolts or 2 bolts and a locator pin. This along with EVO's much improved tensioner plate on the other side of the bracket plate should make the bracket super strong. I'll be the first to kick in another case of beer to EVO's buddy ! |

Looks like my old DSM's honeycomb, remember we used to remove parts of them to make more power lol ;) |

BUT he has the other end of his bracket hooked up to the body!! super big no no.. What happens when your motor moves back and forth from torque lol. thought that was funny!! i guess he won't need solid motor mounts on one side at least lol |

here and JTran Studios builds these braces. http://www.the370z.com/forced-induct...tillen-sc.html |
I love this forum! So much good info is being shared. Thank you all for preventing us from beating dead horses.

Hey top,
Did you get your intake pipe all sorted out |
Quick question since a lot of Supercharged guys are in here. Can Ecutek support an aftermarket IAT sensor? (Tapped into the IM after the heat exchanger) Would be worth looking into for guys who want to run a safer tune with low-moderate boost. That would give you loads of info on the A/W intercoolers efficiency.

Any one have a video on there belt tension on the blower side.
I need someone to grab the belt and twist it on video so i can go from there. I think I've got the tension right.. |
My car is locked in the shop but if no one can shoot it before Monday I can go get you video then.

Z84. How close to the top of the idler pulley bracket are you? Stock pulleys on there?
|
I have about another 1/2 inch I can go on the bracket. Stock jack and SC pulleys but I put a 2 3/4 inch idler pulley on there that my tuner had laying around after the smaller stock pulley blew out. I was pretty much maxed out on the bracket with the smaller stock pulley.

I also found that when you twist your supercharger belt, you can see your blower moving. the bracket flexes so easy. |

I made a new bracket on our cnc machine. Made it out of 7075 al. That grade is twice as strong as 6061 and tge stillen one could be made of even a lower grade. Didn't cut the bolt slot out. So this thing should be 4x stronger.
I also have a 3" idler. My only setback from dynoing Saturday will be if my intake has a shipping delay. It will be very close. |

Should be 3 days max with air. |
So does anyone actually have these conversion parts for sale yet or is everything being fabricated by your local shops?
|
No. He sent it ground and said it is supposed to be here Friday. He said air would have been like $125 more. I have the tracking number but it says it is not found in UPS's system. Kinda nervous. If I don't get it Friday then my dyno will be pushed out by 3 weeks or more since they are super busy. That would really, really suck.

However, if your talking about the upgrades to handle more power other than the a2a conversion, then we are all just "one offing" them ourselves. So far for more power you will need: Air to Air setup (with MAF relocation) Upgraded pulley bracket Upgraded idler pulley on SC side Main bracket Anti-flex bar/bracket Series of pulleys and/or Impeller upgrade Larger injectors and pump - RFS recommended |

I took the day off to button up any loose ends required before the dyno day. If the package doesn't arrive then I will have to make my own intakes post intercooler which is not what I want to do. On another note. I have everything ready to go with the car minus my ethanol content analyzer system and the manifold isn't bolted down yet. I cant get to the bolts. I believe Evohunter said to use a EZ-red with flex head so I bought one, FOR $46 BUCKS, and there is no way it will work. Since it is not open ended it contacts the mani before it slips over the bolt head. Ive returned it. So instead I have a different wrench on order. It is a ratcheting, open end style that uses a spring loaded jaw. If that doesn't work I will need to make my own tool out of some steel flat bar. |

Stillen Air to Air setup
That picture is still using water to cool it.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08...08e3d974ee.jpg It works for the stock set up but not adding more power like the air to air.

The I/C is in the IM after the TB's. |
I realized it was water to air right after I posted it. requested to have the post deleted. my bad. haha
|
Hey top, I used a ezred with a crows foot to crack it loose.
|
Oh CROWS foot!! Sorry, missed that part.
|
I Used a double sided 3/8 socket adaptor, the ezred's can be used on a square bolt., triangle, triple square, 5 point and 12 point bolts. that's why I suggest the easy reds.
Worst case, go to house of tools (if I remember that's where I go for cheap tools when im at my house in Palm desert) buy a super long wrench for 20 bucks and heat/bend it so it works! |
