Well here is my upgraded brace. The aluminum is 7075 which is at least twice if not three times stronger than this Chinese stuff from stillen and since its twice as thick that means....She is strong now...
|
Is there a reason you went with aluminum over steel?
|
looks really good!!

Well my intake post IC will not be here until Monday so I will not be able to dyno this Saturday. LUCKILY someone dropped out and a spot opened up for next Wednesday the 26th so I can get in soon still.

As far as the tune goes with this new setup, are you guys going the Uprev or EcuTek route?

Would rather limp to the side of the road and drive another day - as opposed to getting towed home with another blown motor... and having to go through this ordeal again. An ounce of prevention isworth a pound of cure :twocents: |
Can you fill me in on this safety feature?

Will post it as soon as I receive the answers from them. But as soon as I heard that they could tune the car to go in to limp mode when certain key parameters [including the knock sensor]were exceeded I signed on the dotted line. |
Yah ecutek is the future. I'll be going with it this Sunday!

EcuTek
Here is the response from EcuTek regarding their Tuning Software Capabilities for the 'Z'
(From) Chris Todd (EcuTek) 19 Aug, 12:09 Hi Bob, Thank you for your interest in our 370Z tuning software product, we believe we have the best software available at any price for tuning the stock ECU in this very underrated vehicle. Unlike some other software suppliers we have full control and understanding of the ignition strategy, Variable Cam Timing and complicated VVEL systems, using our bespoke "In house developed" RaceROM code we have also added custom functionality such as 4 way map switching (controlled by the cruise control switches), Flex Fuel capability, Custom maps (Tuner defined) Knock Warning, Flat Foot shift and adjustable Launch Control to name but a few, we can also hijack the factory oil temperature gauge to display certain parameters such as Air Fuel Ratio or fuel trims. RaceROM Custom Maps gives the tuner the ability to set up complicated safety strategies, for instance, the tuner can use an input to a Custom Map such as Air Fuel Ratio against engine Load, should the Air Fuel Ratio become lean at full throttle the output of the map could be used to reduce wastegate duty or close the throttle on a turbocharged vehicle to lower the boost pressure and prevent engine damage, this is only one scenario, we have many other inputs and outputs for Custom Maps and many other safety features could be included, this is all down to the tuners imagination and the time he has available to develop the calibration. Please see the link below for our Tuner newsletter showing the latest Phase 2 features, also please look at the YouTube links showing some of the special features in action. *NOTE There is a section on the Stillen Supercharger that is extremely interesting: 370Z Newsletter http://us7.campaign-archive1.com/?u=...0&e=f2f4864736 370Z Adjustable Launch Control https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkTz...ature=youtu.be 370Z Oil Temp Gauge Hijack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0Zp...ature=youtu.be Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or doubts. I have the brace for the tension pulley out, how much longer should I them make the slot? Going to the machine shop tomorrow to have them start making it and the intake block off.

That is what I was guessing but didn't want to come up short, thank you!
|
Unless you are going with a bigger, stronger idler pulley. Then you do not need to extend the slot.
Evo, Wheres that dyno?!!! |
Going to dyno tomorrow night. They are done at 5 with the other guys, then ill be going on. Hopefully everything goes smooth!
|
I just dropped my parts off at the machine shop and should have them back Wednesday or Thursday.

Where's that dyno?!

We had a huge issue guys, The charge pipe does not work. We maxed my MAFS out at 4900Rpm, they had no voltage left in them.
Sebz thinks the 3" pipe is too small, and maxing the mafs out. Im super bummed out about this. With that being said, it put down 408whp and 341 TQ at 4900RPM at 5.6 PSI! Im really stumped on this now, Sasha hasn't got back to me on a fix. so Im done for the year now, won't be tuned until next year now. This is what I'm going to do. Im going to buy a 3Bar Map sensor. Im going to take the MAF signal wire out of the maFs, Wire them into the MAP, find a 5v source and ground, T the map right out of the intake manifold. Like they do in the 300zx's. Even tho it only revs to 4900RPM, its still a lot fast then before, The throttle response is 10X better then before. drivability is great aswell. Maybe Sasha will tune in with a fix! |
Also, with ECUTEK your able to switch from MAFs or MAP sensor.
I think this is my only option, unless we have a different pipe built. |
Wow, that's a lot of power for 5.6 psi!
Sorry to hear it didn't work out better for you. I guess I need to talk to the guys at the shop and see where we go from here. Maybe upgraded MAFs or a 4" pipe at the MAFs? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The main reason is theres WAY to much air hitting them right now. There designed to see half the air there seeing now, because from the factory we have the dual intakes.
they lose all voltage at 5000rpm. With our cars, its extremely dangerous because when our MAFS lose voltage, our ecu cuts fuel. She's goes extremely lean. Honestly, i shouldn't of thought it would go smooth the first time. Its a "one" off kit right now. But sebz is going to get me hooked up with a MAP sensor conversion, or well mod the intake pipe. Sebz said the up rev MAFS won't do much more. Boost comes on about 1400RPm sooner now, before it was about 1.6PSI at 3500 now I'm seeing 2 psi at 2100rpm, really makes the car come alive. The car is all setup up, really fast actually. Had them set the rev limiter too 5100rpm for now until i find a solution! |
Did he say how big he thought the intake pipe needed to be at the MAFs? We haven't built mine yet so I can test it.

Probably like a 5" tube, to mount the mafs in. But I'm not even sure.

5" tube would be a ton more area than us turbo guys are getting with dual 3". Guess it all comes down to how much air you need to move. |
The shop that works on my car does lots of GTRs and are telling me they go to speed density with them a lot. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08...42c2e93eff.jpg

This is what sebz suggested ^
Speed density. |

We are going to talk to the tuner tomorrow about it. He tunes all their GTRs and the place usually looks like this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
