If we rebuild it I think we are going to do it like Evohunters, it's simpler takes up less space and with the MAFs in the same pipe they should get the same readings. Yes it will run out of MAF but I already have the 3 bar MAP for SD tuning so that shouldn't matter.

Interested to see how that works with SD tuning if you are out of MAF.

Props for being a pioneer

StillenZ84 11-23-2015 01:10 PM

Yeah SD tuning is the way to go for sure. I know our MAFs are now in different locations with the air to air but I was able to take the box from around my intakes out that blocked the air and wind coming in and as much air can hit the MAFs and not have any effect on my tune. Doesn't matter what they read. SD is straight from the manifold pressure. Will definitely solve your issue.

Hmmm... then this isn't going to work, we have been trying to SD it and the car just keeps going crazy rich. We were thinking the ECU is still seeing the MAFs and going into the protective mode and going rich. The car will idle in the 13-14 AFR range for just a bit then suddenly it goes rich.

StillenZ84 11-23-2015 01:28 PM

I know that Ecutek has an option with speed density that you can use either hybrid mode where it looks at both the MAP and MAF sensors which is sometimes used to get better readings at idle and low speeds or just straight up through the MAP. You might check to make sure it is only reading the Manifold pressure and air temperature readings.

Hey Guys

On March 2016, i can, or will Report about "SD with EcuTek- Tuning"!
That's our future-plan.....

JWillis72 11-23-2015 02:56 PM

Topgunz car is running on it now with out any problems but something on my car just isn't letting us tune it either way.

The ECU must still be doing something off the MAFs because the car will not run with both plugged into the side that is .8 but will idle (not well) on the 1.6 side on the same tune.

Good news!

JWillis72 11-23-2015 04:31 PM

I'm a little to nervous to get to excited but it's the first time the car has let us actually change how it runs with any of the 20 maps so I'm hopeful.

Thank all of you for the support! My dog ate a whole pack of chocolate chip cookies and ended up in the animal ER so I don't know if they made more progress but I don't think they did. I will keep you all updated if we make more progress tomorrow.

Choc Chip ??? Not Choc Chip !!!

What was that PuP thinking ???

I had a 6lb Yorkie run off with half of a Pecan Ring from the local bakery ... it was bigger than her ... she was grinning all the way as she dragged it off to her lair to devour.
She gorged herself but she didn't get sick.

Hope yours recovers ...

It takes a ounce of chocolate per pound of dog to be lethal. I'm sure everything will be fine.

My damn cat ate a chocolate chip cookie one time. Dude got sick but was ok. That damn cookie cost me $300.

JWillis72 11-23-2015 08:48 PM

His stomach is 5 times what it should be and the bill is already $1300. To me pets are family, so if he's okay that all that matters.

Damn. That sucks but I understand. Mine are too. Keep us posted.

Masterbeatty 11-23-2015 09:56 PM

Hope everything turns out well, my dog is our kid as well. I would do anything for him too.

TopgunZ 11-23-2015 10:10 PM

Sorry to hear the pup story. Mine got into some nachos covered in onions and my god....that was aweful. I had a carpet cleaning bill on top of my vet bill. But I would have sold my car to save her.

StillenZ84 11-24-2015 12:01 AM

Yeah dude that sucks. Hope everything's alright.

JWillis72 11-24-2015 08:20 AM

He's back to being a nut and should be home this afternoon. I hope I can say that about the car someday soon.

Z&I 11-24-2015 09:26 AM

Glad he's OK ...
It's always something tho' :-)
Thanks for taking care of him !

Sounds like your luck is already changing for the better =)

JWillis72 11-24-2015 12:25 PM

I guess the car still isn't right, they are telling me the injectors are scaling like they are 500cc or something.

He stood like this for 45 minutes yesterday before I took him to the ER. He is a silky terrier, when he was young he could jump into my arms while I was standing up.

I'm so frustrated with this ******* car! I'm so close to changing it back to the way it was so I can have a car I can drive again.

From a troubleshooting perspective, going back to the last known good configuration could be pretty helpful. At this point so many different parts of the car have been fiddled with, it might be worthwhile to hit the reset button on the modifications.

You could have them fab up two straight intake pipes with MAF mounts just leave the pipes open to the air. Place screens over the end so you don't suck anything into the engine and see if it'll idle that way. If it does you know the intake design was problematic. If it doesn't it's something else.

EVOHUNTER 11-24-2015 02:27 PM

This is what im doing, im going to get a 5" single pipe with with maf extenders.

The 5" should flow more than enough, maybe the 5.5" pipe.

Stock has 2 - 2.5" pipes right? so in theory the 5" should work with the maf extenders.

hope your pup gets well!

I believe 5" is way more volume that 2-2.5" so that should work. With mine they are trying to SD tune it so it shouldn't be the MAFs.

Length being equal, a 5" pipe would flow twice as much as two 2.5" pipes.

A single 3.5" pipe would flow about the same as a pair of 2.5".... just a hair under.

With both my MAFs in 1 - 3" pipe, its maxing the MAF voltage at 4800 RPM with the MAF extenders. I think 4", but why not go 5" or 4.5" to be on the safe side.

I think ill go with a 4.5" single pipe, with both mafs in extenders, like sashas first design.

Stillen Air to Air setup

So we thought we tricked the car but it still idles like crap. The shop owner told me yesterday that it worked on one MAF but not the other. What would that mater with SD tuning?

So you guys know, I've passed on every suggestion you have made to the shop.

Love those Little Terriers ... I have 4.

Here is 'Fritz' [looks just like yours when he's clean and dry] - He is an Australian Terrier - if you mix an Australian with a Yorkie you get a Silky.
'Fritz' is a Toy-a-Holic [the squeakier the better] - he is on the couch slobbering up his toy Sausages.

I have a female Silky who is going to be 12 yrs old on Thanksgiving day.
Her name is 'Gia' - and she came from a large Italian family so I call her my 'gumad' [girlfriend on the side :-]

Then there is 'Max' - alias 'Wooly Bully' a Yorkshire terrier mix with Rocky Balboa.
He's the 'Tough Guy' in the pack.

#4 is Little Lily - the real boss of the outfit.
She's a year and a half old 6 lb. Yorkie ... and quite a character.

'The 4 Amigos' tied to a tree

Left to Right:
Gia - her job is to keep the trees awake [and she does a fine job of it, you'll notice that the tree behind them isn't sleeping]
Lily - her job [as I like to describe it] is 'Spontaneous Creative Interior Re-Design' [she is quite good at rearranging the house to suit her fashionable tastes when I'm at work]
Max - his job is to patrol the area and protect the pack - he's fearless.
Fritz - his job is proper care, maintenance, and instructional use of anything toy related.

Enjoy

JWillis72 11-24-2015 05:55 PM

Oh lord how do you keep up with 4 of them?!?
