thats true, but you also need to remove the headlights as there is a clip behind them..

it should help with aerodynamics,

Edit:

The front fender vent behind the wheel is to eliminate front wheel aero drag, since air off the wheels tend to go forward as its spinning, disrupting the airflow and blocking the air behind the wheel, so it will give a better flow and with the air flow some of the hot air from the brakes will go out as well.
