Weight Reduction - NASIOC

here is a link to the Weight Reduction thread on NASIOC, the link to the anal iwsti guy are in there, as well as about 10 years of little weight savings things.

has anyone removed their ABS?

^ these guys will pretty much make anything in carbon fiber, they also make wrx/evo roofs. AMS performance also makes carbon roofs.

also, some serious weight can be saved by taking out some of the overkill safty brackets. even more if the car is track only.

Don't know if anyone has noticed this, but I think the weights listed for the OEM 19's are wrong...

http://productcat.bridgestonetire.co...pp_1369443.pdf

Apparently front and rear tires are around 26.7 lbs? Is this not correct?

EDIT: Wait -- listed heavier on Tire rack?! Is that the weight people are going by? I guess it's more likely to be accurate...?

So still no weights on the base model wheels/tires? I may have to just weight them myself.

Anyways, I was googling around for wheel weight and found a really nice post on another forum. It has some models and sizes not listed on the wheelweights.net spreadsheet(i have a feeling that thing is a bit out of date):
Wheel Weight Comparison - BMW M3 Forum (E90 E92)

The other nice thing is they are all pretty much right around the sizes you would be looking at for a 370z.

Weighed my new RacingBrake 2-piece front rotors at 22lbs a piece vs. 30+ for the stock rotors, acceleration has improved.

Minor update on lug nuts. Top post lists the stock ones as "3 lbs". On my kitchen scale the sport package ones (are they all the same?) come in at 76.5g per lug nut, which is 1.530 kg for the whole car, or 3.366 lbs.

Muteki's open-ended tuner nuts come in at 25g (1.1 lbs total), and the closed-end ones at 60g (2.64 lbs) (per mfg specs).

It's not much, but every little bit helps

Nice. Wanted to know this because I sold my OEM and didn't weigh. I got Gorilla closed end lugs and they're 32.19g each or 1.42lbs total.

Also I weighed my OEM rear 2013 wheel and tire and it was 57.5lbs so heavier than previous years. Forgot to weigh the front

Well it is 16lbs of rotating mass so yes acceleration will improve slightly.
Rotor, wheels can be big helps when cutting weight as they are also rotating mass.

It makes sense and I guess that's why Seibon does not advertise it's parts weight because they barely offer weight reduction over stock parts.

^ well if you're blowing 3.5k on weight reduction already, I figured 2k for more lost weight is better. I suppose free is cheaper too.
