Yes, you would be OK if it gets driven twice a week. I know people who have left their cars in storage over winter and had no problems with them.

Meaning like 1-2 years?
No idea, I have checked the 350 forum and some guys ran them for a couple years with no problems while others replaced them after 13 months.

A couple of years is fine, I just don't want to have it die out when I have to go to work or something, I don't know if it matters but it should still be fine with the aftermarket nav running off it right?

I have the 15 lb braile in mine and i have to charge it every 4 days or my car will not start. The car is in the garage now and it takes a quick 15 min 2 amp triclle charge.
If i drive it every 3rd day there is now problems, but once the temp started to drop 30's to mid 20's it starts but you can feel the battery is a little low on cranking power.
If i disconect the Battery from the car it hold the charge for a long time.
I always leave the hood popped open on the car if im not going to drive it for a while in the garage.

I think our ECU pulls a trickle - I have a problem with battery drain as well... a shut-off switch is in order

I think I'll take the plunge maybe next week and let everyone know how it goes.

Anyone got other mods to reduce weight?

After my experience with the Braille battery I'll sum it up like this....if your car is a daily driver and you live in areas where the temperature will drop below 40 degrees regularly, don't get it. If you're like me and the Z is not a daily driver, get it.

FYI -

Removed ebrake and related handle, cables and assemblies for savings of 8-9 pounds

There are brackets supporting the front fascia that are over-built, removed about 5 pounds of brackets

Was previously using aftermarket dual oil coolers and now going down to one but adding shrouding to increase effectiveness - will be net weight savings of 5 pounds

Will be replacing headlights with covers for any day time events for net weight savings of 10 pounds

Have another 80-100 pounds we are targeting and will report back here later

Do you have an accurate idea of what your car currently weighs? I would be interested to hear.

I'll post corner weights next couple weeks... previously at 3,250 with driver and safety gear and full tank of gas... Long-term goal is 3,100 with same... seems crazy, but we're taking it one pound at a time at this point

car is now 3,135 with driver and half tank of gas... so probably another 70 lbs to get to our goal of 3,100 with full tank

Re brake kits weights, I know I saw that discussed somewhere around here recently... try the brakes section and look for the threads with recent posts
