S-Mode Quirks

Does anyone have any issues with their S-Mode during normal driving? Sometimes, but not always, when I disengage the clutch and go to neutral the engine will rev down to

Default S-Mode Quirks

Does anyone have any issues with their S-Mode during normal driving? Sometimes, but not always, when I disengage the clutch and go to neutral the engine will rev down to about 1500 rpms and hold for a few seconds before going to idle. Yesterday, with S-mode on, I reversed out of the driveway and it reved to 2500rpms on its own! It's starting to get on my nerves so it's switched off at the moment. It just seems to run smoother with S-mode off and less fidgity.

Should I just take it to a dealer and try to replicate the issue?

werd. ive not had SRM work against me...and not once in reverse. were you rolling backwards pretty fast before you entered the gate? something might be up with yours.

it thinks your about to shift so it will hold at a certain rpm when you go into that gear to make it smooth when it figures out u are not switching gears it drops the RPM.... that is SRM

I haven't had a bit of trouble. One can screw with the SR logic, though. SR will hold the rev's you have for a bit waiting to figure out what gate you're going to next. If you stay in neutral, then it gives up and drops to idle (or close). Problem is if you bouce around in neutral near the shift gates, SR will try to match the revs and HOLD them for a few seconds even though you're still in neutral. Be decisive. If you want neutral, put it there and take your hand off the stick. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

No said issues here. Doesn't srm work thru sensors at the entrance of each gear including reverse?

G2Z- yah but ive never had SRM rev match my reverse. hahaha. i just engage Rev slightly from a stop and once im rolling back i just clutch-in. you have to be rolling pretty quick in reverse to activate SRM, no?

No problems here. When my dad drove the Z I noticed he had a tick/habit from his manual-driving days where he liked to bounce the shifter between his thumb and fingers while in neutral. The SRM didn't like that one bit, haha.

Did you just turn the car on right before you backed out? If so, if you dont wait 15-20 seconds for the RPMs to drop and you give it gas to get the car moving and then push in the clutch, the car tends to rev up to 2.5-3K. I dont think this is related to the SRM though.

Yeah, it was in the morning right before going to work. Started the car, waited maybe 10 seconds, engaged reverse, revved to maybe 1000rpm and let out the clutch about halfway and it revved to 2500. I didn't fully engage the clutch as I was backing up.

This happens also when just simply pushing the clutch pedal to the floor when rolling up to a stop. 2nd gear at about 2500rpms, push in clutch (still in 2nd gear), revs drop to about 1500rpm for about 3 seconds and then drop to idle. Irritating!!

Yep, I quickly found that I have/had a habbit of bouncing the shifter off of the spring gate for first and second... got over that quickly! Especially when loitering after coming out of a high gear.

Nobody else with these issues, I don't even know if they are issues...maybe it's just normal behavior?

Maybe one of you can drive around with the SRM turned off and see if you notice any less hesitation with revving down after clutch is disengaged. When mine is off, the revs always quickly drop to idle speed. When turned on, it's hit or miss.

S mode will try to hold a certain RPM on your up and down shifts, it just holds it higher to get it ready. The 2500RPM is probably related to a cold start

well put. It took me a while to get over the habit of waiving the shift knob left to right just after going to neutral (to insure your in neutral), if you do, the system thinks your still deciding which gear to put it in so it holds the revs a lot longer. when I was still getting used to it I would frequently put it in neutral when driving on the offramp from highway speeds but soon found out it wants to rev really high coming out of 6th, im talking close to 7k sometimes.... made me super nervous! And also when coming to a stop I just wait till the last second to shift to neutral and make it quick and the rpm's usually drop real fast. As for reverse it's never slipped up on me (knock on wood). Overall all I'm very happy I have SRM it's a great addition just takes time getting used to it. aside from the few drawbacks stated, you have to appreciate the smooth down shifts , especially from 6th to 4th when someone thinks they're about to pass you up on the highway! sorry to write a book you guys, hope it helps!
