Drove my car today for the first time since installing the spring and all I can say is WOW! It feels so much better than stock and amazingly better than without the spring installed at all. The clutch feels a lot like my S2000 did which is a good thing!

Holy ****, the bottom pin was a bear. I think I was working on it for an hour and a half.
Be really careful with the pin. I think I nicked it on the end trying to tap it out, which caused it to become out of spec and basically get stuck before I could completely get it out of the bottom spring holder piece. The top one wasn't a problem at all. I had to drive it without a spring to my dads house (to sand the pin and bracket back to spec,) which was my first time doing so. I loved how it felt, and was immediately driving the car smoother with less effort. It felt natural. This made me more excited to get the new spring in. After I fixed the pin and the bracket, I got it in and tested it. It still took some work to get it in. I'm not sure how some of you guys do it so fast. Anyway, it's way better than stock and really how it should feel! |

For those who have not swapped out the spring yet, you do NOT need to remove the top pin.

It's so weird on some cars the bottom pin is horrible and others it isn't. I just had this issue with chuckd05's as well, the pin did not want to go through the rivet in the bracket on the pedal without the spring assembly even in there! I would recommend using a round file or a dremel to remove some of the material in the bracket if you run into this issue.

I will be getting more in 2 weeks hopefully, but I am still waiting to hear back from AK on going through with another group buy. I promise that I have added everyone to my list who has asked about the springs. I will try to get a new GB thread going ASAP.

That is good advice. There really isn't any space down there to do a whole lot. If you **** it up bad enough you might even have to take the whole freakin clutch pedal assembly out.

Just did some "spirted" driving and wow. You guys where not kidding. I can catch gears so much harder with more precision. And when just drving normal it dont look like I just started drving a stick yesterday. Thanks for busting you a** and doing the install Nick, my girl did not want to cooperate LOL

just installed mine. actually took longer than i thought. after i removed the C clips, the entire assembly just fell apart so it took me a while to figure out how it went back in (wasnt paying much attention)
anywho, car is washed, quick detailed and new clutch spring installed. cant wait to drive it tomorrow. thanks again for doing this man! |
