It spikes the cylinder pretty so quick that it jars your lower end pretty good. There are people they use all the time and have no problems. It gets a bad rap because it never messes up a little bit. If it only takes out a piston/bearing/rod you are pretty lucky. I got my S14 because the previous owner had a 406 (bored out 400sbc) in it. He was turning 10.90's w/ 10in drag slicks and a non lsd rear dif. It had a wet 150 shot of nitrous til it ran lean and "scattered the motor all over the track".

Nitrous is like drugs, the more they use it the more they want. Until they blow up the engine.

Oh like drugs, then let's just say NO to NO2

Sounds powerful but not for me. It gives perspective to "enjoy it destroy it"

No thanks to "give it a try". If I am going nuts for power, I'll put on the turbos. In the mean time I'm going to test those new coil overs. Yee Haw.

I was the same thing about turbo bikes and boost (I stopped at 15 PSI), the AVG was 2 motors a year for most of the user group. I ran 2 years and still have the same motor, NO BOOM! I'll take it slow and report back. Should start the build in 4 months. If anyone has some useful data please shoot me a PM.

I squeezed in my old Mitsubishi back in the day. My friends and I did the stealth install which I think is a must if you decide to do it. I got pulled over multiple times and the cops never saw it when they inspected under the hood. As long as its done right and you keep your ears and eyes open to any sort of noise or vibration you'll be fine. The key is an even distribution to the cylinders, so keep an eye on your spark plugs and make sure they look evenly smoked. It's not like you'll be squeezing all the time, maybe except the first bottle.

It can be if its not built, I havent searched to see if the VQ37HR uses the same pistons as the VQ35DE but the vq35 used hyperutectic pistons (lightweight, relatively cheap for production) There sturdy enough for regular use but nitrous is very rough on a engine. I have a friend that has nitrous in his SE-R altima with a hundred shot, he went thru 2 engines before finally building one with forged pistons. The #5 piston would always crack its upper ringlands on the piston. If I recall correctly he had it set for 100-110 shot, wet setup. After he put the third engine in he went to a 125 but made it direct port with throttle linked actuation for the lower gears like what the O.P. is talking about doing.

I could have used it last night. went to pass and the other 370z hit the gas thinking i wanted to race. I got around him and back into my lane as another car topped the hill. After he turned around and went back the other way. 75 extra hp would have solved the problem much sooner and at a much lower top speed....

Nitrous is like a tease. That's why I prefer turbo(s).

Dont let them scare you, I was heading down the N2O route with my 350Z and as long as you buy quality parts and take every saftey precaution and get a good tune you will be fine..... with a 100shot you should easily break the 400whp barrier.....

This is the key. Almost every nitrous engine blow is due to someone not paying for the safety parts needed or going too high with a dry nitrous system in the first place. Nitrous adds the extra oxygen to your setup, just like a TT or SC and you have to take at least the same precausions plus a few others. Many see nitrous as a cheap quick fix and don't do this. You need a fuel pressure safety switch, wideband, and a window switch at the minimum. This will probably double the cost of you setup.

WB o2 I have now. I am starting with the ZEX kit and the 75 HP jets. If I like it I will work up a computer controlled pulse modulated setup.

There was an article in either DSport or Modified Magazine with an article on the 3.8 Gen Coupe with NOS. Looking at their bolton set up, they have less hp than us but more torq... Anyways I think he was putting out 360ish to the wheels and 320ish torq.
That is amazing!

Yea it was DSport. They had a Gen coupe with the 3.8 - mods were intake header exhaust and a reflash. It made 301 and 280tq.
After the Ny-trex triple threat wet system was added (75 shot), the car made 373 and 384tq. Only supporting mods they had with the nitrous kit were colder plugs and a clutch.
