Would it be cheaper to get an old google phone and use Torque/pro? I hear the sending unit near the oil filter is a switch not a gage??? Will Torque

Would it be cheaper to get an old google phone and use Torque/pro? I hear the sending unit near the oil filter is a switch not a gage??? Will Torque read actual real time pressure on a VQ? I am using for diagnostics only not full time, just street, not track.
