Everyone always boasts about HP but it’s torque, and when and how it comes on, that matters.

Yeap, Seb can tune that part of it. I sure he made some adjustments for that.

Right, i actually crashed, and then had this same thing happened to me 3 more times, but those times i was aware of whats going on. Now to fix this you NEED to do is pull the VDC fuse in order to completely turn it off because it does this.

Guys, should i get the FUSE removed to completly disable VDC? Will this work out better or more safe for my WOT pulls with VDC off?

Do I need to tel Seb that I am going to remove it or will it not matter?

Definitely run it by Seb before you do it, he'll tell you if you should completely disable it for your tune.

You don't need to do the fuse removal or need to disable your ya sensor. The Ecutek works very well. Seb will make need adjustment as your throttle response may be to sensitive in that is it comes on hard and fast. He can adjust that so that response is slower.

Mate, how about you recognise that the car as currently set up is just a bit much for your ability right now and discuss with Seb how the hell you can do what he wants you to do safely .... trying to set up a tune on the public highway with the nannies turned off might sound like a good idea but if SAPOL see you, you'll be walking for quite a while.

We have corresponded in the past and whilst I appreciate your wants and desires, maybe you now understand why I map an engine on the dyno before it goes into the car, and then I put it on the chassis dyno after that. I have even gone away from a "roller" chassis dyno to a hub dyno because I have seen what happens when a car gets loose on the rollers .........

BTW, you have been given a life-lesson in how quickly thongs turn to sh1t when a car gets away from you and maybe apart from the laundry bill or the big butt-clench bite out of the seat, you and your vehicle survived !!

I'm not taking cheaps shot - I'm (and we all are) trying to save you from writing-off your car and maybe damaging yourself.

I've been around long enough to understand that you;ve invested a shed-load of your hard-earned and want it "right" ... but I am suggesting that doing it on the public highway is not the most appropriate way of proceeding.

High torque motorcars with one/off torque delivery have a bad habit of breeding magnets which suck you into the nearest metallic object and cause shed-loads of damage

Please take great care as the car will bite you arse if you give it half a chance.

Track test -n- tune or large parking lot... better to start with cheap tires...

Practice getting loose and then pedal off to regain traction.... then learn how to half pedal the throttle to control a drift and get it back more gradually.

(And dont try getting loose in too low or too high a gear - too low = motor not happy, to high, no power to get loose )

Knowing how to purposely get loose will also keep the panic factor down when you get in a situation....

Knowing how to tame the rear saved my buns more times than i can count out on open track. from spinning out and facing other cars coming at me at about 90mph on a turn, to, instead recovering an oversteer under hard Gs and continue down the track.

sometimes, even letting go of the steering wheel and re-grabbing it lets your car track the oversteer faster than you in those situations... (situation specific)

Moral of the story,, like navy seals, practice all day, so that game day is second nature

Why did that happen? I have Pilot Super sports 275/35 on the rears and I was going in a straight line under WOT, then around the 4000RPM mark it almost felt like someone grabbed my steering wheel and threw it to the right and then to the left!! There was no gradual loss of control sliding etc, it just happend so suddenly out of nowhere.

Anyone else experience this before?

I appreciate you posting your experience with the TT. I'm in the same boat. Have had my TT for about 6 months and have been cautiously using the power (it scares the hell out of me!). In fact I haven't used Map 2 yet (full boost @ 9psi).

I take a little exception to some of the comments that have been made in a somewhat condescending way. Everyone is a beginner at some point in time.

You are fortunate nothing serious came of it and because of you sharing your experience, it'll make me a little more cautious. I too have felt the rear end want to break loose in third gear and also have the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. Fast Intentions did warn me about the tires. They are a great tire, but apparently not for the boosted.

Enjoy your ride!

Cheers

You are getting a lot of stuff thrown your way and you got to have some thick skin as some people are just over the top. Most just want you to learn how to get the most pleasure and fun out of your vehicle. You have been given solid advice about tires and mechanical upgrades that will and do help with the performance of your Z as you grow your skills. My very first driving instructor at the track gave me some very sound advice that has stuck with me. He said you have awesome car and it is really fast and for many that is a problem because you want to go fast before you know how to be fast and a slower less horsepower car is generally the best way to learn. So you need to be disciplined in your learning and remember that as you get faster the consequences increase almost logarithimically. Your car will and can kill you!

I think this thread has been good for a lot of people. If you haven't been around the forum much you will quickly figure out those that have significant knowledge about our platform and you should filter your advice to those few. PM folks as most of us are glad to help as we have had much opportunity to learn ourselves and continue to do so. I hope you the best of luck and happy boooosting!

^^^This. It has been a while since I have been in a boosted car. I will have to start slow like everyone else and see if my reactions are as fast as they use to be. This is the part that makes me a little nervous. Learning the car. You can and will make mistakes and get surprised, it is limiting those mistakes that is key.

Just rent some dyno time. This is why folks use it anyway, to keep stupid from coming up and biting you in the butt.

OK, so I will upgrade from my 275/35 PSS to something wider, and possibly the R888R.

And Sebs new tune seems to have improved the traction a bit better, so my workshop has said when they tested it. They tested 3rd gear WOT and it did not spin out like a mad man as before the latest tune.

I have yet to actually test it myself in dry weather. Last night was raining and I tried to do a pull with VDC on, but throttle was getting cut almost instantly lol.

I will wait for dry weather and then turn VDC off and try.
