I am really at a loss here fellas. Im trying to put this oil thing to rest but my commute this morning has me thinking otherwise.

• Drive begins at 7:15 (55 degrees) (140 oil temp)
• 7:20 in town driving…car reaches temp (180 oil temp)
• 7:30 on the highway 60mph @2500rpm 6th gear. (200 oil temp)
• 7:45 highway slows to stop and go traffic 20 mph 2nd gear (205 oil temp)
• 8:00 near standstill traffic (220 oil temp)
• 8:15 fully moving again 60mph @2500rmp 6th gear (210 oil temp)
• 8:25 park at work (205 oil temp)

I am just shocked that I hit 220 in sub 60 degree temps. Yes it was moderate to heavy traffic but I have no idea if there is reason for concern. The A/C was on and off to clear the window of some fog but the difference in oil temp was insignificant from what I could tell. Not really sure if there is cause for concern here or something wrong with the vehicle...

Don't be. Most modern engines run "hot."

There is not. As others have tried to tell you, 220 F oil temp is not high. The engine will handle it and the oil will handle it. Drive it like you stole it.
cv129, Chuck33079 and Jayhovah like this.
