Default Oil gallery gasket?

I’ve seen on a lot of shops and mechanics social media pages that it is common for the oil gallery gasket busting open in the late year 350z’s and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. Is this something they improved in the later year 370z’s or is it still something that will probably need to be replaced after a while? (i have a 2013 370 with 87k miles)

I believe the 13s have the metal gaskets,so you shouldn't have any issues.

In the 350z this was a major issue. But if I’m not mistaken they have fixed this issue when they made the 370z. I have a close friend who is a Master mechanic here at my local dealer and he said I shouldn’t have any issues.

I think the earlier years 370 still have the paper gaskets?

We still have issues. The fasteners back off and cause leaks, etc. You will get a VTC timing chain rattle if it is really bad on a hot startup.

Oil pressure will be low too correct? Is it good to just go ahead and replace it with a better gasket at a certain point?

Does anyone know of any good/reliable replacement fasteners and the proper torque specs for them in this application to stop this from happening? I know someone offers a kit with the metal gasket and new fasteners but I didn't see torque specs.

i used the upgraded hex bolts that came with my eps gaskets kit, conceptzperformance also sells the same style kit and fasteners. these allow you to accurately torque each fastener. i torqued mine to 12 ft-lbs and added lock tight for insurance.

So you replaced the whole gasket or just the fasteners?

That is what I am doing when I have my FI TT kit installed. Might as well do
C2 JWT exhaust cams at the same time.

Do you guys know when they switched the material for the gasket? I have a 2014 Touring Sport and might trade for an older Nismo. TIA

I thought it was 2014 that they made the switch. I have a 350z Nismo HR and I had this very issue. I am currently looking for a second Z, a 2014 370z Nismo.
