Default Another oil thread...but new topic (high miles)

So i've read countless oil threads on here and on Bob is the Oil Guy for people debating what oils to use. I'm due for a change. However, there was one big variable absolutely nobody mentioned and that was oil on high mileage VQs. I have 125K miles on my '11. All the threads were low mileage changes and analysis. Sooo, is there a consensus or data for oil on our cars with over 100k? You see the M1 high mileage marketed stuff and so forth.
I was planning on Euro Pennzoil platinum 5W30, as its apparently more robust, with slightly higher viscosity HTHS, than regular platinum 5w30, which i feel might be good at the higher miles .
Anyone else have blackstone labs or recs for oil at these miles?

checking my dipstick over last few thousand miles, it hasn't budged more than a milimeter, so i think i got a pretty healthy VQ, not using any oil for the miles

Never had an oil analysis, and after 107k miles, it still doesn't use any oil, and it's an 09. That's Mobil 1 since 45k. So idk, it's a constant argument.

Ok, since it looks like I'm the only one that absolutely loves new oil threads here, I'll share my experience, although not with my Z (only 19k miles). I have a Jeep Commander 4x4 with the Hemi 5.7 that has about as many miles as your Z. I've always used Mobil 1 syn oil products in it since new, however, now I'm using the high mileage flavor with corresponding M1 hm filter. Seems to be treating my engine well. Not much burn between changes. Still runs like new. I love that Jeep!!!

I know this reply doesn't directly address your question 100%, but it does hit somewhere about the target. Hope this helps.

Early IBTL. There is no consensus or data out there for our cars. At 100k or above it won't matter. As long as you're timely and use respectable brands the motor will be fine. Other parts of the car will go out first anyway.

100,000+ miles on an engine isn't the big deal it used to be - especially if the engine has been properly maintained. Unless you are burning more oil than normal between changes, just use a good-quality filter/oil and

I'm sure there is plenty of information available concerning high mileage oil to support or dispute the below statement.

From what I've learned engine oils with "additives" for high mileage serve a specific function; stop oil weeping around gaskets. If I understand correctly the additives help to "swell" the gaskets reducing or stopping the weeping. Adversely, if no gaskets are weeping, using a high mileage oil with the additives can actually create a problem.

Dance with the one that brought ya. Stick with the oil that got you to your current mileage, it must be working well to get your engine to that point. Hope that helps.

If your really that concerned do a used engine oil analysis when you change your oil. But really there is no need to change regular maintenance just because of X miles or Y years on the car.
