I ended up putting a set of vice grips around that nut and busting the stud free from the old housing.. what a pain.. I should have busted out the Dremel. Nice job..

yah, whoever designed that housing should be shot.

there is absoutely no reason why the bolt needs to be
on the housing side. they can use a regular large tapping
screw and just screw the housing down from the outside.
