Default Install complete ( Finally ) Item list, Cost, Time

Ok just a run down of what was installed, replacing the Stock system

Kenwood DNX 5140
IPOD connect
Sirius SAT

Focal 165 KP ( Door speaker / tweeter set )

Dynamat

Alpine PDX 150.4

MTX 1 - 10" sub

I built my own sub box

PAC - ( Could not get it to work ) un-installed. Will return for refund.

Everything was re-wired

IPOD cord located in center consol.

Started to tackle by myself.....reversed that decision shortly after starting.

Thanks to the guys at Best Buy in my local digs. I couldn't have done it without them. At first I was skeptical but the GM at this location was a previous audiophile and installer and warmed me to the decision to bring job to him. I can not speak for Best Buy in general as to level of performance but the Best Buy in Bastrop, TX were in the game.

*** Also a special informational help and thanks to members John Smith and BPD138 as well as other helpful hints located on this forum ***

Time to install: 13 hours

All items were purchased at: Sonic Electronix ( what a great place to buy)

Sound: Fantastic ( sub is perfect size to compliment speakers )

I hope this helps others looking to make the plunge in Sound upgrading, it is a must if you have the base system.

Cheers,
Bryan

I have a pdx 4.150 driving 2 pairs of Boston Acoustic 6.5 pro's. It's RFL, but I don't know how much longer the speakers can take it....

Dis-engage E-brake was to allow DVD's to play while car is in motion ( for the wife ). This is an aftermarket HU install .... so not sure as to OEM product. NAV does work while driving on this Kenwood set-up, but it should on any unit, what's the point of having NAV if it does not.

You say you built your own sub box. Any other details or, even better, pics?

The oem nav can not be bypassed I have already looked into this. Sorry for the bad news. Also not saying that they didnt do a nice install but I use to work for them and I quit after they told me that III had to install it how they wanted it. Which was using crimp connectors and all this stuff. There is just no pride in there work there. But I would enjoy some pics.

I give up trying to upload pictures.

I was successful at adding 4 pictures of the sub into my profile. You can view the self built sub box by going into my profile. No laughing, I have never built one before, it is stuffed with polyfila, but it works incredible.

Also shops are not allowed to bypass the parking brake safety so no he can not program his gps or watch movies while riving. That is a huge fine if they do it.
