My car wont be ready for a few days, but when it is, I'll cut the wire and report back. Might as well. I'll keep you guys posted.

From my admittedly limited knowledge of the circuits involved with the lock, I think all of the other wires except the brown one have to still be connected to the lock mechanism as there is some kind of loop through or feedback from the lock module to the BCM. So you could probably completely remove the lock assembly but you would still have a bunch of wires that need to be connected.
I'll just leave the lock assembly in place and not worry about it if disabled.

That is my believe as well, although it isn't documented very thoroughly (intentionally). I'll do the brown wire cut first with the harness first and then do some probing with a scope to see what is what. I was going to cut the wire in the stock harness but once I got under there and saw how tight and filddley it was I chickened out as I had a track day that weekend.

I'm pretty sure he only got a few plugs as testers and mike is one.

KaienZ34 is correct! I am also one of the testers!

Side note though will someone please take a pic of te harness for Brian (bdl99) so he can colour code the wires! I would but I don't have my car back until Saturday morning! I guess if it's still not done by then, then I will have to do it!

I'm with Fritz. take the power away from a switch and it can't move. As long as you maintain the continuity on all the signal wires, which we seem to not be messing with, then it shouldn't be able to flag any faults.

When my car gets off the boat I will be testing this out.

I just have to comment positively about this site. Back in the early 80's I was a member of an RX-7 club. Once a month I'd get a newsletter with photos and Q&A's and owners tips, etc. Then, the internet came along and changed everything. Suddenly there are thousands of members from all over the world for just about any user group one can imagine and the collective knowledge is incredible. 370Z owners have an issue that has caused great inconvenience to many, and for those who were out of warranty or decided to take a preemptive strike against the lock failure, spent $500 for a replacement part.
Thanks to the diligent work of some smart and talented members, it looks like we will have a solution to this soon and at a low or no cost depending upon one's comfort level. I just cannot imagine this happening back in the "old days" that some of us more "seasoned" members lived through. Good work guys !

Boy, I remember the days when I would look forward to the 4 page z club newsletter every month. Now with the internet, there isnt even a reason to be in the local club.

Correct, I only got a few connectors to test, but assuming everything goes well I will get more and offer kits more generally. Typically you need to order a large quantity and I didn't wan't to do that without knowing all was well. Luckily the timing was good as I was actually placing a large order so I could just add a few for testing purposes.
