DIY: Replace dreaded steering-lock on 2009s and early 2010s.

This thread made me go out and look and unfortantly I have the B.

Now I dont know if I should replace it or just wait for it to fail and then shell out the money. But thanks for the DIY it makes it easier to know where to kick the %%%% out of when it does fail LOL.

10/08 build date. I have JF00A... Yup, mine's dead. New one ordered from CourtesyParts...

And since I tried the "disconnect the battery" to try and reset it the calibration on my windows is hosed so now every time I open the door my window goes down another inch and won't go back up...

Not good as we're expecting rain...

Anyone know how to put the window back up when you get no power from the ignition?

Until nissan officially announces I don't know for sure but from the GTR forums they were using RevC to fix the issue. Haha, np. Yah just tap the thing from underneath I guess with a small hammer. Lol

Sucks. Hope you get your part soon. As mentioned above try even tapping the unit if you have access to a hammer and flashlight. Worst case cover the car..

Mine is an '09 with 6800 miles and in winter storage... still have warranty until January 2013... I'm hoping for a recall before mine fails.

yah, one of the main purpose of this thread is to bring awareness to our Z owners so you know what could be causing the intelligent key warning flashing in the cluster and can not start the engine.

if this ever happens to anyone, recommend you do the tricks ive noted before like unlocking and abruptly moving the steering column up/down, tapping at the steering lock itself, unplugging the steering lock and plugging it back in, or just replace it entirely before it fails.

I guess they could also be re-programmed like that.
